This appears to be a PHPBB script, and I would recommend that you check their forums for tips on how to make adjustments for forums that have a lot of traffic such as what is found here (viewtopic.php?f=64&t=135383). If you reply back to this with your IP address (http://www.hostgator.com/ip.shtml) we will be more than happy to go ahead enable HTTP access for you, so that you can safely work on the script without it causing further issues. Please let us know how you would like to proceed.

With all the MODs you have and with a active board you are no longer profitable for your host on a shared server and they want to get rid of you. I would consider changing hosts or going with a dedicated server.

Well, I believe there must be something wrong either with your host, or with your forum...
You have 30000 posts, 126MB DB and 8 mods...
My forum has 300000 posts (x10), 850MB DB (x5) and over 30 mods (x4). Still, it runs perfectly normal on shared hosting without facing (or causing) any problems... :?
My mods in MODDB:
Add Homepage link in header | Change user activity post limit | Post number in viewtopic

My mods in DEV:
Ajax Dock Menu - Change user warnings count - Mark forums read (3.0.6-RCx)

that host is normally very good and does not have a reputation of trying to upgrade you for profit.

this sounds like you have a problem with one of the files in your phpbb2 installation.

If you simply install phpbb3 then convert over, it should solve all your problems.

you will have to reinstall any MODs you want that you find are not part of phpbb3.
'Information on how to convert from phpBB2 to phpBB3 is here.

Basically, you must have both phpBB2 and phpBB3 installed on the same server. After you have finished installing phpBB3 you will have the option to convert your phpBB2 board using the built in converter. The information it asks you for is related to the phpBB2 installation and can be found in its config.php file on the server. All of your users, posts, forums, PMs etc are converted. However, styles and MODs are not (with the exception of the birthday and attachment MODs which are supported by the converter). The phpBB2 database is not converted per se, it is merely read and converted/moved to the new phpBB3 database, so if it goes wrong your old board will not be affected at all. At the end of the conversion, once you're happy it's all working, your phpBB2 database and files can be backed up and removed if you so wish. They are not connected to the new installation in any way.

The files are not changing all the time.. So a local copy of the forum using FTP to get the files is more than enough. In case I change a file, I also do it in the local copy, so they are synchronized. And once a month I download a fresh copy of the entire forum to make sure that I have the latest avatar files (I don't use attachments in my forum)
The database: I am really surprised that you need to ask ..
The backup completes successfully via the ACP (I don't backup search tables if this is any help to you, since they can be recreated in case of a serious db problem) My database backup file (gziped) is about 60MB and it is taken on a daily basis without any problems...

I had this very same problem, I took out my shout box and chat room and all returned to normal. The chat mods were causing massive overloads and page refresh.

Try removing your chat to see if this helps.
