3.0.5 to 3.0.6 View Active Topics not working

Post by bfrench »

Hi, Folks,

Upgraded to 3.0.6 from 3.0.5 two day ago - everything works fine except the "VIEW ACTIVE TOPICS"

You press the button / link and it returns "No suitable matches were found" inside the correct page layout.

That is the page has the format correct but no data.

Anybody else have this problem and is there an easy fix?

Thanks,
Bill

There was a bug in 3.0.5 that meant all the forums were used for active topics even if the option was on no.

In 3.0.6 this has been fixed so you need to edit each forum (manage forums>green cog icon) and turn it on for the ones you want to use.

I got excited when I saw this. However when I try to enable the feature I get the following error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function validate_range() in /home/blackrid/public_html/forums/includes/acp/acp_forums.php on line 907

Here is the code from that area. It looks identical to the New php page from the full download.

Code: Select all

	validate_range($range_test_ary, $errors);
Any ideas?

The only way for me to get rid of this and a multitude of other errors, was to delete my board except for:
Config.PHP , images/ , files/, styles/ .

Upload the update file and the full version file with the exception
of Config.PHP, images/ , files/ .

Then run UPDATE. It checked all the files as good, done, board works fine, all errors are now gone. I did lose all stored PMs, small price. AND you may have to reload your mods if they appeared in (folders) ADM, Language,Includes.

NO loss of posts, members, or anything else. Cheers.

Hi all,
I had the same problems with my forum as I updated it to 3.0.6 3 days back .
My photography forum is www.camshotsindia.com.
The "view active topics " link has started working after the solution suggested above , BUT there is a problem since it has beeen done .
Whenever I am in the Board index > Presentation > " any category " and i click the Presentation link to go back to the presentation page , it takes me to a page which has mixed contents from different categories .The presentation categories like Nature & wildlife , landscapes etc are placed at the bottom of the page .......
THis wasnt happening earlier untill i activated the " View active topics " .
Please note that it is NOT happening in other forums like , General discussions , Gear talk , Members area etc.

Please help me

I turned on active topics for my forums in the ACP but I'm still getting the no results found. No PHP or mySQL error though... just that template "no results found" message.

Confused?

AS for what i did .....the "view active topics " function has to be enabled in the category as well as respective forum headings ....then only the topics will be shown .

Can you explain that a little better please? I don't know if I understand what you're saying.

It's the second link in my signature.

EDIT: It may not look anything like phpBB but it really is! "Current Topics" is the page in question.

EDIT #2: Oh, never mind. I didn't realize you have to turn it on for every single forum. I have like 100+ forums so... hooray! :D

In other topics an SQL query to update all forums has been posted allready:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_forums SET forum_flags = forum_flags | 16 WHERE forum_type < 2;
Locked
