Well, I'm already using 9.04 server on my home server. I really like the update process..
"do-release-upgrade -d" and you are done...
I will wait a few days before upgrading, though...

Windows 2003 - Great really, i have it on my dedicated server, horrible look for today though!
Windows XP - Great, not to many bugs, ugly though.
Windows vista - Some bugs, good though
Windows 7 - Very good, bugs though, less than vista.

Ubuntu - Pain in my butt! Couldn't get to much working > . <
Linux mint - Using now, absolutely amazing with my dual boot of windows. Download "Wine" for linux, you can run/install any windows program

  • win95
  • win98 + SE
  • win2k
  • winME
  • win XP (still using it and in my eyes the best OS of MS ever made so far)
  • Win Vista (briefly but didn't like it so back to XP :D )
  • win 7 (laying around to be installed on my quad core)
  • linux Ubuntu distro (had some problems with drivers etc and I couldn't be bothered any more)

Might be some more but I think most of them won't know about them like an early pre dos BBC "computer"

In order of use...

  • Windows ME
  • Windows XP
  • Windows 98 (Yes, I had to DOWNGRADE at some point in time)
  • Windows Vista
  • Ubuntu
  • Windows 7 (Current)

I doubt I'll change from Windows 7 now, but I could see myself using Ubuntu again in the future on a laptop or similar.

Unkown:
1st one was a small keyboard that plugged into the television - around 1984. The HD was actually a cassette tape deck. Don't ask what it was called, I do not remember. con - what's an internet

Win:
3.1 (I think) pro - it was a computer//con - took all day just to load a modem
95/98 pro - again it was a computer, photoshop was a plus and affordable // con - same thing, loading hardware was a full time job
2000 Pro, pro - built it myself, worked fantastic for creating 3d animation // con - wasn't very good running too many programs at once
XP Pro, pro - nice if you turned off all the extras // con - too bad it would turn some of them back on by itself, how much space does a system really need; and, we do have minds of our own

Mac:
9.1 pro - nothing to do with the OS, but nice monitor; also, it worked great as a door stop. con - useless
OSX 10.4 pro - everything // con - if I ever find anything I don't like, I'll let you know... ooops, got it - that darn gong of a sound at boot-up (you can add that to the 9.1 also -- wake up apple)

Red Hat:
Toyed with it for an hour - forget it.

I like the OSX start-up sound, personally. I also like the earlier Error sounds. Look them up on youtube. It would have added a little humour into an annoying situation.
