Requirements

The MOD requires the installation of mimeTeX and uses PHP's exec function.

Installation instructions for mimTeX

1. Go to the mimeTeX webpage
2. Scroll down to "Precompiled Binaries"
3. Download the binary file depending on which OS your server is running (if you don't know, go to the ACP->System->PHP Information)
4. Upload the mimetex.cgi file to your webhost's cgi-bin folder and set permissions to executable (CHMOD 777)

When you've done that install the captcha plugin and go to the captcha plugin settings -> configuration. There you can set the absolute path to mimeTeX (phpinfo will also help you figure this out). It will be something like: /home/something.com/public_html/cgi-bin/mimetex.cgi.

LaTeX notation

The math questions are inserted using LaTeX math mode style notation. Note, LaTeX has nothing to do with rubber.

It's pretty easy actually. For simple things you can simply enter the question in plain text, like "1 + 1". For more complex stuff you should have a slight knowledge of LaTeX, but it's not so difficult. Here's an example: "\frac{1}{2} * 2". This would result in a fraction like this (1/2) * 2. Some more things you can use are \sin{} \sqrt{} x^2.

I think they can not choose 3.0.6 yet

The 3.0.5 is because 3.0.6 is not released yet. As the notice says, it only works for 3.0.6. It will be updated either manually when 3.0.6 is released or automatically once an update is approved.

Well, you don't have to put in complex questions. You can just put in stuff like "1 + 1".
