Member from 1969?

Postby thebassman » Thu Dec 16, 2004 12:34 am

A couple of days ago, if you look on my memberlist (http://www.photographycorner.com/memberlist.php ), you'll see there's a member listed as the first member who has no username, and joined in 1969? What happened there? Any idea how to get rid of it, or should I even bother?

Alright, the best I can tell you is that someone could of hacked into your database and did that. If you have access to phpmyadmin, you can do it from there I believe. For the moment, I don't know what to edit but someone else does I believe. I'm sure it's slightly simple.

I do the updates as soon as the come out... could it just be a weird glitch, or a half-finished sign up? I figured out that I can delete the user, but I wanted to leave it up for some people to take a look at in case it indicates a security hole or something...

Actually, you're far from it. :)

December 31, 1969 at 23:59:59 is the date the UNIX epoch starts from. This is user #1, which is never used (as all accounts start from user #2. Because this account is never used, there is no registered date and therefore uses the default date the UNIX calendar was started.

It's not something I'd be concerned over.
Someone brought that to my attention on my forum and started freaking out that we were hacked, etc etc...

It's nothing to worry about. It's just... there. Not a member. Not a glitch.

Can I just remove that member, then, or will it screw things up somehow?

You can't remove it.
The number does not exist within the database.

Click on the PM link. There's no member number in it.
