upgrade - or at least trying to

Postby chompalot » Fri Jul 29, 2005 11:19 pm

Hi my wife has a forum, but its 2.0.6 version and the latest available on our host is 2.0.15. we've tried a straight install and an import, but I guess the database isn't compatible. Can anyone point us in the right direction to upgrade our database/forum?

cheers

First one thing we must establish. Do you have any MODs installed?

If not, then it's very simple. Just download the full phpbb 2.0.16 package from the downloads page here. Upload everything except the config.php file and when it asks to overwrite just click yes. Then run this file from a webrowser, http://yoursite.com/install/update_to_latest.php

That php script will update your database for you. You need to do nothing.

If you have mods installed, then you'll have to upgrade each version one at a time.

I over wrote the previous install and updated as you suggested, in another location to check it out and it works flawlessly so far :)
