Before you go any further, is there anyway that you can use MySQL or MSSQL instead of MSAccess. You will find many many problems ahead.

Well I have another site with mysql, and don't have that many problems. I purchased the new one without it. I wanted to see if it was easy to use PHPBB on my site without paying for the mysql option.

Maybe it might be worth paying extra if I continue to have these "newbie" problems with MS Access. lol

It isn't just "newbie" problems, Access will give you trouble on a regular basis. If you were just using in on your local machine, then OK. Trying to hit it witha number of users on the web is a problem. It is an issue of scalability.

Also, I'v heard rumors about mods not working.

I've been *forced* to use it in a web scenario for business purposes and it has never been anything less than painfull.

using any control-panel install/update is like shooting yourself in the foot. It won't kill you, but you're really going to hobble around until it heals.
Using the wrong tools (Front Page, DreamWeaver) gives the same results

To give you an idea how bad ACCESS is, the now development series of phpBB version 3.00 will no longer have support for it when released.
