Military Academy BB HELP!

Postby stbaryla » Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:04 pm

I am the webmaster of www.cma-usmcc.org , a military academy in NJ...

We use your BB (great by the way) for communications that we only want our Cadets and Instructors to be able to read...we had 2.0.13? installed, and we were hacked pretty bad. I backed up the database (through myphp AND the BB itself). I updated the BB to 2.0.20, but can't seem to get the backup loaded. It says "no file uploaded"...please help, we are getting near our summer camp and our parents of cadets are freaking without the forums.

My hosting provider, IPowerWeb, said he couldn't help either and that you guys are "the man" when it comes to this stuff. Please help. BTW, we use frontpage to create/upload the site and IPowerWeb has it's online program called VDeck - where we got the BB from.

So you are using about the worst host on the planet and a program that unless you are really careful will badly mess up your scripts. <sighs>

The most likely reason you can't upload the db properly is it is over the 3 meg limit. You will then need to use a script like bigdump to import it. Should come right up if you google it, its a solid script.

slow down here. if you are just upgrading then there is no need to restore the database at all.

just do the upgrade of the phpbb files, then just upload the install folder that came with the upgrade zip file.

then, in your browser, go to:
yourdomain.com/yourphpbb/install/update_to_latest.php

then delete the install folder and you are done.

wish it were that simple...originally, we were hacked and the login page and config page wouldn't load when you entered your un/pw - about 1,000 name suddenly were registered and the board wouldn't work....so I backed it up, and....blah.....
