new forum, 1st post submitted, got white screen - HELP!

Postby ICOMetal » Fri Oct 06, 2006 7:35 pm

Finally, I've managed to get my forum up onto my database, spent hours on end getting it looking good, getting ready to transfer posts from an old free forum.

I tried to submit the first post on the forum and all I get is a blank page!?!

No error message, just a blank page, does anyone know what is likely to be going wrong here?

I'm an utter novice at setting up something like this & I have virtually no understanding of php. I was led to believe by my web-host that the installation of a php forum would be a breeze, it really wasn't!

All I can state is that the browser bar stipulates the address to my forum followed by /posting.php & all I get is a blank page.

Is there supposed to be a folder in my database for users?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please.

First , get this:
Auto Cookies MOD
then, unzip it to your computer,

then upload the included install folder, to your phpbb folder on the server.,

then , in your browser, go to:
yourdomain.com/yourphpbbb/install/cookie.php

then in the suggested settings section, change the cookie name.
It doesn't matter what you change it to.

then click the button to accept the settings it finds.

then delete the install folder.

then log out of your board

then close your browser

then go back and log in again and test.

Many thanks Mortemorte, that worked perfectly.

I had trouble with the new user registration, I got the email error bit, I used my aol email as the boards email address to begin with, this caused so much trouble, so I changed it to my own email address from my website account & bingo.

You've solved a problem I would not have been able to resolve alone, you have my gratitude.
