Lots of white space before tables in posts?

I would like to enable html tables in posts on my forum. I have enables all the basic table tags and it works...sort of.

There is a LOT of white space before the table, like enough that you usually have to scroll down a page to see the table.

What have I done wrong?

doing this at all is a very bad idea. html is a security risk and will not even be an option in the new phpbb3 .

anyway, to solve this problem,

put all your html on one long line of code, all of it.
