user table discussion

I'm terrible for being very long winded...
To give you the just;
I run a gaming clan, just went from using a CMS with phpBB package for the past 4 years, to a plain phpBB install.
I found all the extra bells & whistles were more of a burden then a help.
I do however want to provide more then a basic forum... as we all do.
I've added a few mods, started investigating a phpBB RPG addon, etc.

I was just wondering if instead of the simple sub forum mod, or the CH mod,
has anyone thought of simply running 2 or more phpBB core forum tables,
all calling from the same single users table.
