Hi Mark,
We have started testing 2.2.18 in our test bed and we found that when a new user is registering and sets the field 'Do you wish to receive daily email digests?: ' to 'No', the ACP default setting is over riding this option.
For example, the default mode is set to 'Weekly', and a new user chooses not to receive any email digests and sets 'No' during registration. But once the user checks his preferences in UCP, the mode is still set to 'Weekly', not 'None'.
Can you please check it once?

This is either a bug or a feature. If you enable automatic subscriptions, right now if the user says they don't want a digest during registration, they still get a digest with the default settings if that is enabled in the ACP. Turning off automatic subscriptions makes the problem go away, based on my testing.
It probably could behave better. The ACP control for enabling Automatic subscriptions could have 3 choices: everyone, ask during registration or no.
