Help needed urgently ::

Post by E-Darkone »

OK, I asked this ages ago, and got no response :(

So, here it is again :)

Whenever I perform a search, I get "ÿþ l lhlrppppp&=t}kMecir>rT===M/hda"IdX" as a result.

http://www.e-darkone.com/samplesearch.txt is a copy of my search.php

If anyone can solve this problem, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

What version of phpBB do you run?
IMO this seems to be either a RC nor a CVS version of phpBB v2

Suggestion: take a look at prefix_results, _wordmatch, _wordlist in your database and check if you see any data that seem to make sense. Possibly re-indexing the search tables could help...

1998 in the _wordlist
6108 in the _wordmatch.
and an array in _search_results

ummm, what should I look for?

Thanks

in search_wordlist you see a lot of words? Do you have any mods installed?

I just realised that you do have mods installed...
Sorry, can't you help either. My suggestion would be to upgrade to 2.0.1 (what you should do anyway), maybe some of the files are corrupted. (use the patch file for upgrading, if you have command line access)

well, if you have command line access, you can use the patch file and the whole interest of the patch file is not to lose all your mods :)

Furthermore, 2.0.1 fixed a couple of bugs and it is therefore recommended to upgrade.... you should not stick with 2.0.0 longer than necessary.

Ask your hoster if your webhosting packet includes command line access (SSH/telnet) or not.

You can also use the win32 binary patcher which can be found here:

http://www.wzw.tu-muenchen.de/~syring/w ... Utils.html

Just follow the instructions that came with phpBB 2.0.1 and run the patcher. Place the .exe in the same folder as the patch file, place the MODed phpBB2.0.0 folder in the same folder. Then use the same command lind as in the phpBB 2.0.1 upgrade installations.

Ok, I downloaded UnxUtils and I downloaded the patch file. Now I placed the patch.exe file in the patch dir, and I put my phpBB forum in that directory as well. When I run patch.exe and type in the command "patch -p0 < phpBB-2.0.1-update.patch" nothing happens. I know I must be doing something wronge. Is this the right file "patch.exe". I'm using a Win2k box and I don't have access to a Unix OS right now.
