I just wanted to say thanks again, because as it turned out everyone else was having the same problem as you and there is no telling when I would have figured this out ;)

Thanks!

No they are not!

Code: Select all

the way you reported it....
//	$is_auth = auth(AUTH_VIEW, AUTH_LIST_ALL, $userdata);

the way it is in the file (a tab instead of spaces)
//        $is_auth = auth(AUTH_VIEW, AUTH_LIST_ALL, $userdata);

Not much I can do about that :(

Also, as far as EM not FINDing things, every you've said EM doesn't FIND something it has. I need you to look more closely from now on, ok ;)

Not sure which MOD you are referring to, but if it is this one:

Damn!!!!! Just when I thought all the FTP problems were taken care of, I guess they are not. I'll see if I can get you something that will debug it in a day or two. I'll send you a PM when it's ready.

-Nuttzy :cool:

I am having the same problem. is it possible to get clear instructions or a copy of the fix as well. I would so much appreciate it.

By the way, Nuttzy, earlier Tobias Claren and Seawind both got this problem:

:!: "These are the data of Easymod:

Database type :: mysql4
phpBB version :: 2.0.5
EasyMOD version :: 0.0.10
EM status :: New Install

File Access Info
read access :: OK
write access :: failed
root path write :: failed
chmod access :: unattempted
unlink access :: unattempted
mkdir access :: unattempted
tmp path write :: failed
FTP extension :: OK
copy access :: failed

If I activate "write" for the board-Folder (by"others"), I receive this change:
"copy access :: OK" :!:

and you said: "These merely say what access you have on the server. It is not necessary for them to all say OK. All you need is read access and FTP access."

Is the answer you gave them the solution to the problem and will the mod still work eventhough all these things failed?

I am very confused :?:

Sounds like just "forum" is not the correct path. This is telling me that it is successfully logging into your server but cannot change directory to "forum".

"Sounds like just "forum" is not the correct path". Why?
"Forum is the correct Path :D . That is in German and English the same.
Is it in US English different?

I have the Board on curiosum.net/forum
Are you sure? I get a "The page cannot be found" when trying to get there.

I can open it (?).
http://www.curiosum.net/Forum/ Or curiosum.net/Forum/

What is "tmp path", and is where is it?

What is "root path", and where is it?

Which "write acces" is meant? Which folder does it concern?
As I've said before, these are irrelevant. You don't not need to be concerned with them.

Are these functions for the use without ftp important?

-Nuttzy :cool:

Here my situation:

My first Domain is beamerbau.de.
My ftp-data are "beamerbau.de", username and password.
My second Domain is curiosum.net. It lies on the Beamerbau.de-webspace.
I have ftp entrance only over Beamerbau.de. Curiosum.net is in "/HTML/Curiosum/".

The problem was their permissions on the server (ignore what he says about browsers)....

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.ph ... 095#699095

..the file owner must have write access (744). They had everything set to 444 (readonly).
Is the answer you gave them the solution to the problem and will the mod still work eventhough all these things failed?
There is no problem. If that display confuses you then pretend it doesn't exist. It is irrelavant for your situation.

I would explain more but I'm short on time now.

Actually, the mod is well code (a tab, not a space), and no problem installing it with 0.0.9c and with 0.0.9c + the function find of the v 0.0.10. It is more a problem with the unzip process perhaps, or a modification done while looking at the mod with a text editor.

Agreed, that is very possible that the file could have been altered in some way. I knew you wouldn't go changing tabs to spaces ;)

BTW, I'm currently experiencing a way to comment the inline process in order to keep the information of what was done to a line. Not completly satisfying at this point, but it gives something like this, for a line as $sql = ($create) ? "INSERT (../..) " : "UPDATE (../..) "; : inserted after the line before the one to modify :

Code: Select all

//-- mod : foo ----
// here we added
//    , field_foo
//    , $field_foo
// and
//    , field_foo = $field_foo
//-- modify
and before the line after the line modified adding the :

Code: Select all

//-- end mod : foo ----
Not convienient for tpls, or for inline replacement at this time, but the point is the log is stackable, and keep the order of installation (last first).

Just wanted to let you know as I know you are concerned with loging into the file the actions processed :).

OK.
Next part of my contribution now... :wink:

#7 EMC rules French translation
Next to EM translation (in French), I'll translate your upcoming EMC rules in French as soon as it will be published and add it in my EM support topic on phpBB-fr.org :wink:

#8 Optional modules management
I want to suggest you some ideas about the possibility to add in a MOD optional modules (OM).

In fact, the basic idea is that a MOD can have a core code part, and include optional modules in. The definition of an OM is that it's a homogeneous part of the code, that can be installed or not without disturbing the rest of the MOD, and that not all users may have the possibility or want to install.

For me there are 2 kinds of OM:
- languages ones
- optional functionality ones

But let's take an example :wink:
You can have a look at this MOD to have a good one.

This MOD is one of mine and allows administrators to choose and display 2 specific font colors for administrators (#5) and moderators (#6), for each style, using style management in the ACP.

But, this MOD is composed by a first core code part which creates the 2 fields in the DB, install the new fonts administration interface and that's all!

Next, (in a manual installation) the webmaster can install or not 11 optional modules to apply this color changes in different parts of the board, and add French language entries provided with the MOD too:

Code: Select all

## You can choose to apply this colors to the...
## - Forums moderators on the index page
## - Last Post column on the index page
## - Who is Online list on the index page
## - Forums moderators on the viewforum page
## - Users browsing this forum list on the viewforum page
## - Author & Last Post column on the viewforum page
## - Username column on the memberlist page
## - Username on the viewtopic page
## - Users who have visited this site today list of the Last visit 1.2.5 MOD
## - Username column on the topic_view_users page of the Who viewed a topic MOD
At the present time, if the webmaster install the MOD manually, he will be able to choose which module he wants to install or not.
In concrete terms, it means that in the how-to I've created optional part of code with this visual delimiters...

Code: Select all

##############################################################
## Start - Changes for the Who is Online list on the index page
##############################################################
#
... instructions ...
#
##############################################################
## End - Changes for the Who is Online list on the index page
##############################################################
But if he use EM, he will NOT be able to choose.
And moreover for me, I needed to be careful not to disturb EM with my optional modules MOD writing.

So...
- Many MODs have add-ons, optional part of code, or little modifications to adapt their functionality to user's exact needs,
- Most of MODs support multiple languages and have many language translations available,
- In nearly all the cases, these optional parts of code take very small space (size in kb).

Then, it would be great if MODs author can add all their OM & languages files available in EMC MODs :D

#8a Optional functionality modules
For this kind of OM, the idea can be to create and add new delimitors in the EMC MOD template such as...

Code: Select all

##############################################################
## Optional instructions - Start
## Purpose : Apply the news colors for the Who is Online list on the index page
##############################################################
#
... instructions ...
#
##############################################################
## Optional instructions - End
##############################################################
...and display in the step 1 page an "Optional module(s) available" list with a check box for each line (Install: yes/no).

Code: Select all

------------------------
Optional module(s) available - select the one(s) you want to install:
[ ] Apply the new colors for Forums moderators on the index page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Last Post column on the index page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Who is Online list on the index page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Forums moderators on the viewforum page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Users browsing this forum list on the viewforum page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Author & Last Post column on the viewforum page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Username column on the memberlist page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Username on the viewtopic page
[ ] Apply the new colors for Users who have visited this site today list of the Last visit 1.2.5 MOD
[ ] Apply the new colors for Username column on the topic_view_users page of the Who viewed a topic MOD
------------------------
And then, in step 2 & 3 the optional code will or will not be really executed :D

#8b Optional languages modules

For optional languages instructions it's different.
There is no need for delimitors, check boxes or any validation.

Simply, developers should be able to add all there language instructions in an EMC MOD.
And, EM before executing any copy or add instruction for a language destination file (tested in open... or copy to...), must verify if the language directory (to copy the file in) or the language file (to add the new entries in) already exists.
If the answer is Yes, the first step page will display the processed languages list (existing language directories list in fact), the matched language entries, and if needed the ability to choose the default language for all not found languages.
If the answer is no, it means that this available translation is for a language which is not installed on the forum and then the instruction does not need to be executed.

Step 1 can display something like that:

Code: Select all

------------------------
Processed languages:
English: English entries found in the MOD
French: French entries found in the MOD
German: German entries not found in the MOD
------------------------
Choose a default language for not found one(s):
o English
o French
------------------------
And then, same as for optional functionality modules, the instructions are or are not executed in step 3.

Personally, I would be pleased in the future to have the possibility to always release my MODs in English & French.

#9 hum... I forget it :( Sorry, later... :wink:

P.S. I'm sorry if all was not really written in good English but I try to do my best :wink:
