just FYI, phpBB is already in a "league of its own".
Spelling is freeware, which means you can use it for free.
On the other hand, it is not open source, which means you cannot change it or publish it in a modified form.

It would be just wonderful to be able to update phpBB with all the ease of one click as is done with other scripts like Wordpress.Org

It is expected to be in phpBB 4 (but no guarantees)

Mick, using FTP badly can ruin your website. You have no idea how "bad" beginners can be in using FTP... I have ruined one or two websites for weeks when I started using FTP 6 years ago...
Clicking on "Update my phpbb version" as on Wordpress is MUCH easier and secure for beginners.

hmm, that's about the most lame argument I've ever read.
"Doing anything badly" can ruin whatever you were doing?
Surely you move/copy things on your PC all the time?
But still, yes it would be better if phpBB could be updated with a swipe (irony intended)
