Why no .png .jpg etc...?
So I'll rephrase ...
I'd suggest reading Scalable Vector Graphics - Wikipedia The key advantage is
As more readers and members migrate from desktop devices to tablets and smartphones, the scalability makes images appear cleaner and without loss of quality across all devices, i.e.Wikipedia wrote:SVG images can thus be scaled in size without loss of quality, and SVG files can be searched, indexed, scripted, and compressed.
All images have their cons nd pros. SVG is like a font and infinitely scalable, downside is that it's only good for simple images like icons, logos etc.
It's not really a compatibility issue, it's just more versatile for some types of images. Your avatar for example is prime candidate for .svg. If you have .svg you can put it on a web page any dimensions, put it in word doc or put it on a billboard. It's always going to have perfect lines from the same file. You would not be able to do this with my avatar as it requires too much detail and their is limitations on the scale based on the source file.Random American wrote: ↑Sat Aug 20, 2022 8:14 pm I admit that I didn’t think about compatibility with mobile devices.
I'm not disagreeing here, but before I changed accounts, I tried to convert that avatar to SVG to see what would happen. It came out a mess, so I think it was slightly more complex than it looks.thecoalman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 6:09 amIt's not really a compatibility issue, it's just more versatile for some types of images.
