Re: Viewing attachments by extension group: is this possible?

Ah, I see now. You're right, there's not a way to sort them by group in a default installation. It appears you would either need an extension or create some sort of custom coding.

Re: Unapproved therefore inactive members receive post notifications via email - is this right?

Possibly related. Have you tried running the SQL query provided to see if that stops it?

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_notify = 0 WHERE user_type = 1

Re: Problem with fresh install of 3.3

That's a lot of steps for something so simple. If they can install phpBB on localhost, why not just SQL dump the DB, upload the files (including config.php) and import the DB? Then you only need to change the values in config.php to the correct ones for the host.

I want to go through the attachments and delete any which are no longer required
No longer required how? If you're referring to attachments from topics/posts that are no longer available, 3.2.x does have the "orphaned attachments" section in the ACP.

But now the main page of the forum gives a blank page.
Did you read Mick's post?

A blank page is often indicative of a suppressed PHP error, check your server error logs for a clue to the issue.

I would definitely move away from GoDaddy when you can. As HiFiKabin noted, a search will pull up multiple topics/posts about trouble with their hosting.

Re: Admin login does not see ACP

How did you install your board? I used a tool provided by my host [snip] What actions did you take (updating your board; installing a MOD, style or extension; etc.) prior to this problem becoming noticeable? Fresh install. Dreamhost's install script prompts for administrator user name and password....

Re: Inactive Users Manual Activation Message

If account activation is set to "by admin", then users will get an e-mail when an administrator approves the account. For any other account activation setting, you will need an extension.

Re: evaluating a smf > phpbb overhaul

Probably best to do this in baby steps. smf 2.0.5 -> phpBB 3.0.11 ( converter , phpBB 3.0.11 ) 3.0.11 -> 3.0.14 ( phpBB 3.0.14 ) 3.0.14 -> 3.1.12 ( phpBB 3.1.12 ) 3.1.12 -> 3.2.5 ( phpBB 3.2.5 ) After you get on 3.0.11, follow these steps for each baby step listed above: Delete the following files f...

It's my understanding that all three need to be met for this to work, which is why I asked. ;)

Pretty sure this would require an extension. It doesn't look like smilies are supported either.

Re: ADblock rewrite vulnerability

Does this affect a phpBB install? How exactly would it affect a regular phpBB install. Adblock Plus works off of advertisement domains and as of the latest update, shouldn't be an issue. "It is our responsibility to protect our users, and despite the actual risk being very low, we have decided to r...
