Re: Mass Mailing causes error "File(/home) is not within the allowed path(s)

Sometimes it shows out that being stubborn helps. It has taken some time  but found the cause of the problem. It has nothing to do with the parameter "open_basedir". After comparing all settings between the live board and a test board setup from scratch, it showed out that the Dutch Languag...

Re: Upgrading phpBB v3.2.1 to v3.2.2 fails

I finally was able to upgrade a copy of our live environment. The cause is related to the BBCodes that we are using. I deleted all BBCodes on the test forum and after that, no timeout showed up anymore :) See screen dump. Upgrade_Success.jpg The below screen dump shows the installed BBCodes that I h...

Re: Mass Mailing causes error "File(/home) is not within the allowed path(s)

Thanks all for your support. I understand that there are work arounds but I would like to tackle the problem at the root and yes, I am also a bit stubborn... I have difficulties to believe the issue is caused by the PHP parameter. As mentioned our hosting provider already worked with the P...

Re: Upgrading phpBB v3.2.1 to v3.2.2 fails

Correct, I do not see any errors. Are you referring to the black lines below the error in above screen dump? To my understanding these are the pending steps that are carried out and not errors. Or am I wrong? I tried the solution of the Known Issue as you mention, https://www.phpbb.com/community/vie...

Re: Upgrading phpBB v3.2.1 to v3.2.2 fails

The provider was willing to change the max_execution_time from 30 to 240. I just tested this new setting but got the same error. This error showed up after 4 seconds while the progress bar was at 69%. See attached screen dump.

Any advise is very welcome.

Re: Mass Mailing causes error "File(/home) is not within the allowed path(s)

Thanks for the reply. Our hosting provider already worked with the open_basedir restriction in combination with PHP v5.6 when we were using phpBB v3.0.11. That combination did not cause these problems. Please see attached PDF's showing the PHP parameters of both PHP v5.6 and v7.1 PHP v5.6 / phpBB v3...

Re: Upgrading phpBB v3.2.1 to v3.2.2 fails

Any other suggestions to overcome this problem? Tomorrow my provider forces to move to PHP v7.1 and shuts down PHP v5.6.

I don't know if there's some wonky code issue, but it may help to only send a handful of emails at a time. Unless you have already tried that.
There should be a work around, never had these issues before. Why would a mass mail to just a few users work and to all users not as you suggested?

We have quite some board members, so unfortunately this is not an option.

Re: Mass Mailing causes error "File(/home) is not within the allowed path(s)

Thanks for the reply Mick. This restriction however was already in place while using PHP v5.6 in combination with phpBB v3.0.11. No issues showed up with that combination. Secondly my hosting provider is not really willing to make any changes to the PHP parameters. Any suggestions are welcome to ove...

Re: Upgrading phpBB v3.2.1 to v3.2.2 fails

Thanks Janus. Just checked the setting, it shows

Code: Select all

max_execution_time 30
Though I am not sure if I can persuade my hosting provider but will give it a second try. Any idea what it should be to overcome this problem?

Would it be possible to see the timeout settings being used by the hostingprovider?

Re: Upgrading phpBB v3.2.1 to v3.2.2 fails

Initially the error came up after a while, I believe the progress bar showed 70%. Running it at a second attempt resulted in a direct time out error. I guess if I do a restore of the database an re-run the database update option, that it will show up again at about 70%.
