I'm the only admin on the site right now. I'm not familiar with how to check the tables at the moment but my buddy is the Systems Admin where the site's hosted so he should be able to check the tables for me. I'm not running any mods either. It's just the forum with my own template modifications. I'...

Here's the damage http://www.mrnissen.com/forum/index.php My forum was hacked but not the rest of my site. I re-uploaded part of the forum but that didn't do any goo...

Huh? I'm assuming you want the tables on the right of the page to be somewhere else? Maybe you can elaborate a tad.

Thanks

I'm guessing you're wanting to place a banner on your forum. You can place it in your header, body or footer. Open you template folder and under subSilver (or whatever theme you're using) and look for overall_header.tpl, index_body.tpl or overall_footer.tpl. In these files you can add a table or the...

Can you expand on question number 1.

Do you want people to not be able to even access the main page without a user name and password or just not be able to post without a password.

And no your not a dummy.

In the form fields you need to add:

Code: Select all

class="post"
The whole imput field will look like this:

Code: Select all

<input class="post" name="username" size="25" maxlength="40" value="" />

Check the URL of your image. It's probably not linked correctly or you forgot to upload it to the server. And if it is there make sure all the cases match. Some servers are case sensitive.

How do you edit your .tpl files? I personally open the code in notepad and then paste it back into Dreamweaver. From there I've been able to take out uneccessary elements in the layout view. See if that works. Of course use whatever wysiwyg editor you like :wink: EDIT: You may also want to try putti...

I was looking for a quick script to let people post messages or feedback on my site and our Systems Admin told me to check out phpBB. I wasn't looking for a forum and when I got it installed I wasn't really sure how I liked it. But I starting tinkering with it and realized how cool it might be to ha...

thank you all :) i was thinking about charging the person a fee of $75 for installation and the custom theme Don't undersell yourself on it. That price seems kind of low for installation and development of a theme. I know it takes awhile to make your very first theme so I'd cut some slack on it as ...

Well you can change all your forums to "all" in your admin panel under forum management. They will still have to come up with a name at the time of their post but they don't have to register. That's as close as you can get without having to modify the code.

A compatible database has to be created/set up first. phpBB will create the tables in the database during the install. From there all you need to do is modify the forum as you see fit and integrate it with your site. When you go to install phpBB you will need to know your DB name, password, DB locat...

geez everyone has problems with these forums, maybe they could make free hosted forums? It's really not that hard with some background web knowledge... Yeah, you do need to have a good understanding of HTML. And it doesn't hurt to know a little PHP if you're going to get in the code and tinker with...

This is true. And I agree, who would want to take it off. And yet there's those who do. Don't even get me started on that one though :twisted:
