Re: phpBB banning users strangely

Thanks, Oyabun1. Really I just wanted to know if this was normal behaviour, and what files were involved in the banning/login/notification process that I could check. phpBB banning users strangely

Hi there, I've noticed some strange behaviour by phpBB when I ban a user. Here's what happens: - User is browsing the forums, and gets banned the mods. - Once banned, User is logged out, but continues to browse the forums as a guest - If the User then tries to post a message, he is asked to log in. ...

Custom bbcode not parsing any more

Help! While fiddling around with a custom bbcode, I deleted it, then recreated it. The tag itself is identical, but all my old posts that used this tag no longer parse it. They just show the raw tag: [video]http://whatever-the-url-is[/video] I've tried changing the bbcode database record so it uses ...

htaccess rewrites, base href, and anchors

Hi guys, this is a general question, but I'm hoping phpBB and its resident gurus can provide me with a solution. I've built an add-on to phpBB - a Directory service where people can list their contact details. People can access their Directory listing at an address like so: http://www.website.com/Di...

Re: How to check someone elses' permission?

Thanks AmigoJack - you're awesome! I've tweaked the code a little bit, but you gave me the help I needed to get started. I've removed the SESSIONS table from the query entirely. It seems you don't need it, and it restricted you to looking up members with active sessions. In fact, it seems all you ne...

How to check someone elses' permission?

Hi there,

I'm writing a little mod, and I need to be able to check whether a certain user_id is a global moderator.

Something like this:

Code: Select all

$auth->acl_get('m_');
Except that only tells me if I'm a moderator. I want to know if user_id #123 is.

How can I do that?

Re: Some avatar files are missing - but not all

The most recently uploaded files were 666, so that's what I've set them all to - and lo! They work!

Thank you, sir, you truly are a wizard! If phpBB had a reputation feature, I'd be repping you hard! :D

Re: Some avatar files are missing - but not all

Aha! You've got it. The permissions on this file are 660, whereas mine are 666. There seems to be a wide range of permissions on these files though... 660, 666, 755, etc. Which one's correct, and why would they have (presumably) changed from the default?

Re: Some avatar files are missing - but not all

Actually, hang on... I think there's a problem with that test. It's giving me the same base filename each time, just changing the user id. I assume that's not what's supposed to happen?

Re: Some avatar files are missing - but not all

That script tells me that "images/avatars/upload/a766eXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0c84f7f328f73_1646.jpg exists" - but that's one of the avatars that's not showing. So, um... now what?! :P

Re: Over-riding my viewers' cached stylesheets

Hi Brf. That's when I mean - I can rename style.php to style2.php and that would force the browsers to look for a new file. But the HTML template doesn't actually contain style.php. It uses the variable {T_STYLESHEET_LINK} instead. Where can I change the content of this variable?

Over-riding my viewers' cached stylesheets

Hi there, I have a simple question: I've updated my stylesheet, and refreshed the PHPBB cache. The new stylesheet version is now available. However, my regular visitors have the old version cached in their browser, and it doesn't download the new version unless they hit the browser's Refresh button....
