Re: [ALPHA] Talk 0.2.0 - a phpBB microblogging service

Hi everyone Sorry its taken so long to get back here, I've been far too busy and still will be for a little while, but will definately be getting back to developing this mod again in the very near future! I'll look into all the problems you've found and will hopefully be able to get an updated versi...

Re: UTF8 displays triangles for special chars

Fixed, yeyyyyyy! Thank you!!! Can't believe it was that simple! Explains why I hadn't noticed elsewhere though, had always used the phpbb db connection! *doh*

Re: UTF8 displays triangles for special chars

The data is coming from a stupidly complex query that pulls info from 15 separate tables using unions to merge the results into a single result, e.g. select a,b,c,'phpbb' as source from phpbb_posts union select a,b,c,'xyz' as source from another_table union select a,b,c,'zyx' as source from table_xy...

UTF8 displays triangles for special chars

Hi This problem is similar to one I had recently, but the other way around (see http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=1846245). In this case I'm trying to pull some of the latest post text from phpbb_posts table, but when displaying them apostrophe's are displayed as a (other special...

Re: [ALPHA] Talk 0.2.0 - a phpBB microblogging service

When you click the groups tab, a new tab appears in green called 'Create' - click that :)

Version 0.2.0 released, demonstration site updated, see original post for details. You can now try out the mod/admin features too using the demomod and demoadmin accounts.

Let me know if you find any bugs with it, or if there's any features you want included :)

Re: phpBB Session Integration Library

It shouldn't be, doesn't phpbb dynamically load most classes as they're needed? In which case, only the classes required for authentication should be loaded? If you did want to rewrite it I think you'd need to pull a lot of the code from auth and session classes, just not sure it'd be worth all the ...

Handling text for db? [solved]

In my Talk mod (see Mods in Development) I'm taking text input from the user and storing it in a table to be displayed later. Somebody on the demo site has noticed that it doesn't support cyrilic text, so I'm assuming I'm not handling the user input correctly. I've tried looking through posting.php ...

Re: phpBB Session Integration Library

Why would you need to? If you're including phpbb that's got all of the functions you need to authenticate a user and check permissions that's already guaranteed to work with phpbb, so whats the point in rewriting all that?

Re: [DEV] Talk 0.1.0 - a phpBB microblogging service

Thanks for the comments :) There were a couple of questions on the demo site that I wanted to answer. Firstly, user permissions are already in place for viewing and posting to it so you can limit it by group/user/whatever. If there's any other user permissions you want I can get them added. Things l...

Re: Mod releases - a quick guide?

Thank you :) I had come across the creator somewhere along the way (seen so many pages now I cant remember a lot lol), but at the time it meant nothing. Having had a second look and with a slightly better understanding of how a phpbb mod works, I think I've got it! Just posted my first DEV mod so fi...

[ALPHA] Talk 0.2.0 - a phpBB microblogging service

Hi everyone This is my first attempt at modding so hopefully I'm getting this right! Not all of the code is currently compliant with the coding guidelines, but a large part of it is and I'm working on the rest! Modification Name: Talk Author: Ian Kent Modification Description: : A microblogging serv...

Mod releases - a quick guide?

Hope somebody can help, I'm tearing my hair out here! New to all this modding stuff and trying to package a simple mod with a modx file, but there's far too much info out there and none of it is making any sense lol! Can anyone give step by step instructions on taking changes made to the core phpbb3...

Re: Site Loading Issue

Its probably just taking longer to load the stylesheet than it is the page - could be a problem with the hosting or just with your net connection (depends whether everyone is experiencing the problem or just yourself). to be honest, it loads ok for me (delay between page load and stylesheet load alm...

Re: CSS Issue

its #search-box and can be found in colours.css in the style's theme folder (in prosilver at least). there's also more of #search-box in common.css and links.css.

as I said, I suggest you use firebug which will help narrow it down, especially if you're using multiple themes
