Re: VIGLink

Just a note to say, I was happy to leave Vglink on my forum but some of the sites it links to are not old dear friendly and some of the old dears on my forum were rather offended. :( Even after I killed it via FTP etc the links still show. It behaves like spyware. As far as I'm aware, Viglink does ...

Re: Is phpBB good for sports forum?

Hi, I want to make sports betting forum, but I don't know is phpBB good for it or no? Is there some plugins related to sports forums? Alex I've run a few sports forums, phpBB serves the purpose very well. Especially when you do things like live game-day threads and polls for voting. It's a lot of f...

Re: Help the users to backup the topics

The only in-built option would be to use the "print view" button for the pages you want to save - and then print to PDF.

Re: phpBB extension code confuse me

You will need to access the event variable which contains the templating vars that you want to modify (or add to). That's what "binds" the main logic to the view. For example, see what I did at https://github.com/battye/show-subforum-images-ext/search?q=U_SUBFORUM_IMAGE&unscoped_q=U_SUBFORUM_IMAGE I...

Re: Columnizing Sub-Forums On Index Page

Or you could use this, it'll also put it in a list form (and show a subforum image too, if you have specified one): https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... rumimages/

Re: New to PHP

If you only have one form on each page, then it will direct to whatever page you have referenced as the "action" when you click submit. So the most likely problem is you've made a typo somewhere. As Mick said, this isn't really the appropriate place to ask a PHP question as phpBB is only a software ...

Re: custom link in Forum Admin emails

Instead of $from what happens if you try $this->from ? (seeing from is a class field and not part of the scope of the function)

Re: SQL ERROR 1064 - MariaDB

Hmm, have you modified any code files manually before? If you look at https://github.com/phpbb/phpbb/blob/335c4a93a96fdde9721c2d6878db8a97314b2517/phpBB/viewforum.php#L50-L72 and particularly that first line where it says $sql_from = FORUMS_TABLE . Re: SQL ERROR 1064 - MariaDB

I'm not really sure off the top of my head what the syntax error could be in MariaDB, but could you try this for me. In phpMyAdmin, run this: SELECT f.*, ft.mark_time FROM (phpbb3_forums f) LEFT JOIN phpbb3_forums_track ft ON (ft.user_id = 4 AND ft.forum_id = f.forum_id) ORDER BY f.left_id Presumabl...

Re: Why forum over Facebook?

Also, if you run a forum - you can leverage your website to make it part of the experience.
For some people Facebook might be fine, but if you have more ambition I suppose, then you can create your own ecosystem to support it and encourage growth.
