Re: Varnish

After checking the headers from phpBB.com, it appears that Varnish is used here as well. It was in use here until we moved the site to be served over SSL although we may bring it back in future (hence the reason the headers were not removed). Have the user answer a question on posting first topic

Is there a mod that forces a user to answer a yes/no question (like "have you read the known issues?") before they can write their first topic?

PHP script to clean up spammer "ghost last posts"?

I've got this problem, which might be a phpBB bug . Some spammer account/post deletions have left the last post information in the phpbb_topics database entry. This can be a bit time consuming to correct manually. I think a script could do this, but I don't know PHP much. The script would take a top...

Re: [Discuss] Preventing Spam in phpBB3

As I said, it depends how Stop Forum Spam gets their E-mail lists. For example, if they take complaints from board admins ("This user registered but never activated.") and they see the same E-mail address reported a lot, they might add that address to their list. Now if the spammer was using your E...

A little data from the Stop Forum Spam discussion forum for anyone curious about the efficiency of SFS: http://www.stopforumspam.com/4.png This is submissions from ONE honeypot. For a period of 6-7 weeks, I installed an IP only check against the SFS api.... See if you can guess where that time windo...

Re: PHP setting allow_url_fopen

I found this, which could work, if stream_wrapper_register is enabled:

But I don't know how to implement it. Any ideas?

Re: Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.6 and Above [*Read First Po

Besides, I sid that I have Spambots registration, not spam from anonymous user, that's why I think there is an issue concerning the registration, not the Q&A protection itself. The bot operator could have customized the software he is using to input the right answer. He only has to do it once, you ...

Re: Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.6 [*Read First Post*]

With a tricky captcha, the bot operator only needs human input in the captcha solving phase. The human services offered are easy to link to normal spamming software, because they provide an API. Cheap remote workers in developing countries process the captchas as the requests arrive. The bot doesn't...

Re: Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.6 [*Read First Post*]

IMO, there should be no need to use third party add-ons. If you follow the first post in this topic specifically Knowledge Base - Custom Profile Fields as an Anti-Spammer Tool , you should be able to stop any unwanted bot attacks. I have not had one successful attempt since I installed custom profi...

Kellanved: you removed the links I posted, but I think they have some importance to anyone who is serious about blocking spam. You won't have to just sit and wonder, if there seems to be something flawed in your protection: you can get it straight from the spammers' mouths! geckzilla: check this out...

Hi. I need to crack captcha. Do you provide a captcha decoders?
DeCaptcher CAPTCHA solving is processed by humans. So the accuracy is much better than an automated captcha solver ones.

Re: Deleting lagre number of users...

You'll benefit from copy+pasting your spammer user names to a .txt-file list and then pruning them in one go. In the admin control panel, Users & Groups -tab, under User security header: Prune users. Enter the names to the field with: "Enter specific usernames here, they will be used in preference t...
