Take a look here: http://wakoopa.com/categories/developme ... itors-ides

I'm a big fan of SciTE, a SCIntilla based editor (like Notepad2).

Re: W3C validation and phpBB - is it worth it?

You could reformat bad code to valid XHTML with a script.. That's what I do and my clients have no problem validating their website.

Re: Google Gears?

How exactly do you measure the "speed" of HTML 5? If you mean the processing of the code it's not faster then HTML 1 to 4 and depends completely on the browser you're using. :)

Re: What do you expect on Web3.0

This is pretty much how I see it. http://www.techcrunch.com/wp-content/keyword-search-slide.png Source It's mostly about search and finding new uses for the internet. Web 1.0 was mostly about simple HTML pages with little interaction. A while after the burst of the .com bubble the web was pretty muc...

Re: Hosting promoted by phpbb.com

The hosting page is just filled with ads, not sure if it was ever meant to be helpful. Take a look at Web Hosting Talk. :)

Re: Google Gears?

It was launched as a tool to make web applications like Gmail, Google Reader and Docs available off line but Google seems to have bigger plans for it. It's probably a step towards moving all desktop applications to the web without losing speed (cloud computing) so there will be no need for full feat...

Re: Ubuntu

I have used Ubuntu for a year and loved it, I'm a big fan of open source and practically all the 3rd party software is free. I must admit I recently switched back to XP because most mainstream software is still Windows only. If you don't need Adobe or Autodesk products, Google Earth or Chrome, Inter...

Re: things wrong with 3.0

It's like assuming all Windows users are going to drop Windows Media Player and start using Media Player Classic or BsPlayer . You're assuming that everybody wants links to open in a new tab/window which is obviously not the case if you read the posts in this topic. When I browse the web I often li...

Re: things wrong with 3.0

Adopting standards is the only way to help the web move forward, it's almost irresponsible for a big project like phpBB not to. The standard isn't questionable, it's just a matter of preference and you can easily change it on your own board (I personally like to have a choice and think having tons o...

Re: Hotlinks on forums

The obvious difference between advertising on TV/phpBB.com and spam is that advertisers pay money so you can enjoy services for free. Spammers abuse these services.

Re: My browser doesn't load correctly the pages of the board!

"Updrade" to IE6 if you're running WinME (or try an older version of Firefox preferably), IE5 is an ancient browser with nearly 0% market share and can't handle modern websites properly (support for CSS is especially bad).
