Without any success... I still get the same error message. The first of these lines simply creates the new table type, the second line populates it with a dummy set of values to get going. Let me ask three other questions to clarify a bit. Do you have access to the machine this runs on; i.e can you...

Are you in fact sure that you made the new SQL table; i.e. that it exists ( 'goldrefining_dtb.ADS_TABLE' ) The default table is called phpbb_inline_ads so my first thought is that perhaps when your local tables were translated to have "goldrefining" in it something went wrong.

In the forums I administrate, when I added those type domains with asteriks (*@*.info or *@*.ru) to the ban list, the ban list was updated and those domains do appear in the list after the page is refreshed when submitted. I just checked. This must a bit of code that got improved after my x.16 code...

Just saw this old thread while looking over some past work. Update a year latter: The redirect_annonymous_users_to_login_mod_1.0.8.txt.mod mentioned above nailed the problem. We have also tweaked our posting pages to muck up most robots. Still see these attacks in the logs or on the admin panel, but...

Update on this. If you go directly to the SQL table itself (not through he control panel ) you can edit the entries and have text like *@*.info work correctly. Take a look at the table and you will see that on these domain level bans, the "*@" is missing frmthe table text when stored (the logic is ...

Interesting idea, will give it a try immediately. If the spammer figures this out as well, then i will set a height and width depending on the unix timestamp. I think your use of rand() is much better, the spammer only gets 3 tries with the default settings and then has to get a new session to keep ...

I have not made any changes to the existing user/group settings with this MOD. The only thing I did is adding a new permission called 'Approval Level'. What I am trying to say is that if you put the data tables with Approval MOD additions in a standard PHPBB installation, it should work absolutely ...

Getting the config settings just right

Put this in a few days ago. and my users seem to love it. Our board is a community effort with several different standards developing group behind it, they all wanted a way to promote their own events and conferences and such without one getting preferential treatment over the others. This works gre...

what about this case...

Follow up question for you about the posting logic. Presume a board where only registered users can post in all forums (no guest posting). If a new user were complete the registration, log on, and then to post multiple times, how is this handled? If, for example, I have it set to moderate posters wi...

I like it alot!, and I will likely install it in a clone of our heavily-modded board (rev 2.0.16.) next week, and report back. The only possible conflict I can see is the with the M2F mod which we use to integrate a number is disparate mail lists into our forum, this may play havoc with the user gro...

We use a pretty extensive list of the tools you mention, and for us the only people getting through are human beings with the patience to fill it all out. Guests are unable to get much data about the site (which drives down traffic) but they also can not get and exploit user information. Except wher...

I too have a ton of problems with info domain fake users and would love to ban that and *.ru and a few other places that have caused trouble for us. But I don't think this really works as you suggest. You can not use a wild card in the actual domain itself. In my system any wild card after the domai...

.... I removed it all and left in: user,e-mail,password ... cut ... How do I prepare the .csv to accommodate the 29 empty fields between password and e-mail address? Honestly, it sounds like you have lines more like this: ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,user,,,,e-mail,,,,password,, etc. Which will not cut it. Can...

merging user lists with the existing user base

I wish to use this mod to add a couple of hundred new users, who currently are using some of our list servers, to an existing phpbb forum that has a few hundred users as well. The problem is that a number of these people exist on both the mail lists and phphbb today and I have no idea exactly who th...

Make your life easy, before you try the mod, look at what you already have. Go to the Admin CP and look at " permissions " under the section called " Fourm Admin " and simply set your forums such that categories like "post" and "reply" are set to " reg " (for registered users). The mod is icing on t...
