TC & dinglacy, Yes, I do also think that phpBB stands well on its two feets (or is it more), and these ratings "could" be manipulated / not show the whole picture. But for people who is looking for their first free board, it is normal to take ratings as well as recomendations into account. Thats why...

Thanks :)

I have contacted them, but they seem to have problems upgrading. So I will try to help them, since it is a non-profit site.

Is hardware.no using phpBB v1.x?

I realy love the way http://forum.hardware.no/ have implemented phpBB into their site. Look at how simple and uncomplicated it all looks. But, when I look at the source code, it looks different then the later versions. Is it v1.x? And if it is, ain't it a little dangerous for a site who is so big to...

Sorry Paul,

I just ment that he should be credited :) phpBB is made by the phpBB Group!

But it is a thought! ..that a script/program (any type) is so depended on a nice "look". First impression can gather a lot of attention. Luckily, phpBB is more then just a "good look"

And dont forget SubBlue! THE design for phpBB. After I saw what this guy was capable of, I contacted him for some custom artwork for my site. Its almost sad to say this, but the design of a script like this is very dependent of the design. The rewiews I have read about phpBB has always commented on ...

Normal problem for new forums! When a visitor looks at your forum and dont see any posts, they are kinda turned off from the start. Their thinking "Why post anything when nobody sees it"! To add suggestions I would recomend asking your friends/partner (or family) to help you out by posting. Widen yo...

Kanuck,
I guess that could be useful for some.

Xerin,
After I got my eyes opened, I agree with you!
I have to pay extra attention to the users in my case, who in most cases will modifie the script. So, I must include documentation about how the templates work.

Abela, Yes, you are completely right!! I'm starting to regret my choice of username :) I will go for the .tpl templates as you use. I just had to understand how it worked. I am self thought in PHP (still a lot to learn) and have used that in my templates, until now. phpBB is the first script ...

TR45, It wasn't so complicated as I first thought. :D I will follow your (phpBB) example and make the templates as .tpl files. But, I will make an extra .php file who is for the users only. This (with an instruction on how to use it, in the file) would make it easier for them. Control and order is i...

Abela + R45, Even though the template itself dont need PHP, it would be easier to implement new elements without interference with the main code (like seperate PHP files). Even though I'm not an expert (at all), I would guess that all needed was to change the file extension name to PHP so that peopl...

Why PHP ain't used in templates!

This is not a question about how to implement PHP code!!!! I just wonder why the phpBB team chose to make the templates the way they are. Is there any gains by doing so?? Isn't PHP a perfect way to make a template? I would be glad for any information since I'm going to make an template for a script ...
