Server Maintenance: Wednesday 7th June

Hello, Our hosting provider, OSUOSL, will be performing some maintenance on the infrastructure that powers www.phpbb.com on Wednesday 7th June at 5pm PDT (1am 8th June UTC). It is estimated to take a maximum of one hour, however only a few minutes of downtime is expected. During this time our variou...

Re: Discuss: phpBB 3.2 Rhea is upon us

I'm so excited... but I think it wouldn't be released until the stats will be close to those in 2007... Capture d’écran 2017-01-07 à 18.48.05.png I don't think so, about 10 years since then and the internet/habits changed a lot (see Social Web). I do have still a capture of that great Olympus Day i...

Re: Discuss: phpBB to ship with VigLink extension

The issue many times is that VigLinks breaks links. If I had a dime each time I had to fix the link, because it breaks it, I would be rich by now. I dealt with this at a site that had it, and declined helping the admin to moderate his forum. It was too much work. Especially in code related sites. T...

Re: phpbb.com error pages...

Indeed, this is certainly something we can (and should) improve/fix in the core as it's both hard coded language and not a very user-friendly error message. I've created a ticket and you're welcome to follow it there.

Re: Discuss: phpBB to ship with VigLink extension

I'm not necessarily happy with the integration of VigLink and its activation by default, but this has already been discussed... I have one question, though. Is the extension re-enabled by default every time phpBB is updated or is it remains disabled if it has been previously disabled by the adminis...

Re: Moving site over to https ... advice?

The most important things are updating the 'cookie secure' setting under cookie settings and also checking under 'Server Settings' that if you have force server url enabled make sure you have the protocol set to https. If you miss updating any links internally it's not the end of the world, the redi...

Re: Downtime Today [UPS fault at upstream DC]

Hopefully we should remain up for the time being but there may be a small outage tomorrow between 15:00 and 16:00 UTC. For those of you interested in the details: NERO's [ISP for our DC] Corvallis PoP is presently on generator and should be stable. Electricians will address the temporary fix, possib...

Re: Downtime Today [UPS fault at upstream DC]

I've been informed we're running on emergency backup generators at the moment so we're not necessarily completely out of the woods and stabilized but we're up for now.

Many thanks,
Michael

Re: Discuss: phpBB to ship with VigLink extension

I have read this thread from the start and I for one will enable viglink Although I really don't understand why you can't put a donation link on phpBB.com after all there is extensions for it! I also think it is wrong that viglink is bundled with the software and it should be released as an extensi...
