Re: why not php in templates

I'm not sure what you are using, but I once ported the phpBB3 template classes to Code Igniter, a PHP5 MVC framework. It worked largely the same way as phpBB. A request to a page is made, the corresponding template file is called, processed, and the page response is spit back out. Maybe I'm not und...

Re: why not php in templates

Right, ok thanks. Specifically I'm adding some custom pages to my board, which is a private community board for people that live in my housing complex. So I have a generic PHP MVC framework (kind of modeled after Apache Struts) that I've used for other things, and decided to apply this to my custom ...

Re: why not php in templates

Ideally the template should not allow any type of php. Re: Unknown column 'user_form_salt' in 'field list' [1054]

Ah, so you need to leave the "images" and "files" dir alone to retain the avatars and attachments. Got it. Fortunately for me, no one on my board uses avatars and there were only a couple attachments in some old posts. Thanks for clarifying!

upgrading from 3.0RCx to 3.0.6

I just updated my 3.0RC2 phpbb to 3.0.6, wanted to share my approach. I found this thread and in particular the postings from Derby to be very useful. By way of background, I'm not a phpbb expert. I set up a simple board a couple years ago when 3.0RC2 was the latest version and left it untouched unt...
