Re: Malware

Thank you very much for your thoughts on this matter. I hear what you are saying about changing host company and if circumstances were different I would certainly follow your advice. They insist that it cannot be due to them and that it is a vulnerability in the site. All I know is that this forum h...

Re: Malware

They say that the site has a vulnerability in it and that the malware is nothing to do with them.

Re: Malware

Thank you. The site is offline while it is being scanned. I have no other software on the forum. I worry about malware reoccurring once cleaned up but don’t know how to prevent it. I really don’t want to close the forum down but this is currently beyond me. The forum has been online for nine years a...

Malware

My forum is on version 3.2.1. Unfortunately there is malware in the Public html folder. I don’t understand how or why this has happened and don’t know how to clear it. Have attached the Kaspersky scan that I did today on the full backup. Would be very grateful for advice/comments as I don’t really w...

Re: Deleting a topic

Thank you very much for helping me Steve - your posts were very useful as I hadn't explored that particular part of the permissions tab. This was the first time I had had problems with permissions in the life of the forum (8 years). As Lumpy has explained, he has kindly helped me with this. I had a ...

Re: Deleting a topic

Hello Steve. I have done what you suggested and here is the output. I went into group permission for her (she is the only one in this group), checking User Permissions/Global Moderator/Administrator (using Advanced Permissions)and still cannot find the relevant one. :? Please can you help? Thank you.

Re: Deleting a topic

Thank you for clarifying that. I have followed your instructions and the person in question has a block of green under 'yes' for 'Can permanently delete posts'. Please could somebody tell me where to go to change this? I cannot recall seeing it when I set her permissions up.

Re: Spam from "Contact us" link

Thank you for posting about this problem. I too am receiving spam via the contact us form. This has never happened before. I have CAPTCHA on the form. Will check out the information and links.

Re: Deleting a topic

Thank you for replying to my query. I added Birthday Moderator myself as a usergroup but I maybe I could have done it differently as she is the only one in that group. I have checked in ACP - there are only two Global Moderators and she is not one of them. The image you need to post is the output of...

Deleting a topic

I have a birthday moderator on my forum. When I set this up I went through all the permissions carefully but clearly I have missed something because today she managed to delete a topic by mistake. I have looked at her permissions again but cannot find one that allows her to delete an entire topic. P...

Re: Edit posts

AFAIK it is all - own (admin) and others. It is my friend's forum and I did wonder if it was a permissions issue. I will pass the message on. Hopefully this will fix it.Thank you very much for your prompt reply.

Re: When to Quit With Your Online Community

It's an interesting question and after eight years of running my own forum, one which I think about sometimes. It is a niche/special interest forum and there isn't another one in the UK. It took about a year to really get going and I did as suggested above i.e. post, post and post again. Even now if...

Display postprofile left

Display postprofile left/right is under User Control Panel/Edit Display Options. Cannot find this in 3.2. Please could someone tell me if it has been moved somewhere else? I prefer avatars and member profile on the left and currently they are on the right.

Thank you
