If you have important information then you shouldn't be using an ISP that doesn't let you protect that information. You're so close to the knowledge level that you think you're at, but you're not quite there. OK, so you say that CHMOD will save your files. Fair enough, if you CHMOD everything so th...

macgruder, you are right that scripts cannot hurt anything if they don't have permission. However, you are wrong in thinking that php scripts run with apache permissions. Apache does not work as a wrapper for php in this way. Php scripts run just as if you had logged into the shell and ran the comma...

Even if Google blocks the queries of Santy-A now: There is already Santy-B in the wild and hackers can still do the same hacks what the worms do, manually. So this measure of Google is not really important. The only important thing is to update phpPP to 2.0.11. All those who don't update will be ha...

What does it take to log into the admin panel and download a full backup? Are you guys kidding me? You're the one who must be kidding. Just an FYI, doing database backups won't work if done through the admin panel if the database is of a decent size. The session will timeout long before it complete...

Thank you all for your help! I think that fiSubText will work beautifully. I have been using subSilver/subGreen with an additional graphic along the top. I looked at it and the page ends up being about 250k, which is obviously way too big for dialup. fiSubText looks perfect to provide as an alternat...

Low-Bandwidth Template?

I have a couple of users that are on dialup, and I'd like to know what a good template would be for their needs ... in other words, minimal images.

[Beta] Custom 404/500/etc. Apache error messages mod

Here's a little ditty I wrote up last night. This mod will make it so that people going to invalid URL's or if you are having server problems that apache can trap, users will still stay in your forums, in your phpbb template structure, and will keep everything looking consistent. Everyone who has se...

I think it would be easy to do that ... just use the template part of this mod, and then your mod. Voila! This mod is a little slow when looking at some messages with pictures. I'm assuming it is loading the image fully before displaying the thread at all. If a message is coming from a slow website,...

To be fair, this mod does more. Page-formatting in phpbb gets screwed up even if the image is small enough to fit on the screen. If an image is more than about 2/3 the size of the text area, it screws up the page formatting. This mod fixes that, as well as adding the scrollbar on the bottom of the p...
