In ACP, this setting works for me:
Does that ban them as bots or allow them? I've been trying to ban the IP addresses in the 'banning' section for spammers but I don't think that works as they're not registered using those IPs, they're just guests.

Re: Massive bot activity overloading sql

Ok - the ACP bot list wont let me add partial IP addresses, one of the offenders seems to be; Guest Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 11_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.8483.87 Mobile Safari/537.36 IP range 220.243.* plus many other IP addresses, hundreds of them...

Re: Massive bot activity overloading sql

I've contacted the host and increased max_user_connections, yet still thousands of 'guests' are hitting the phpBB board.

Is there anyway to stop the bots?

Re: Massive bot activity overloading sql

Its not a specific attack - just a massive amount of spam bots overloading the site.

Massive bot activity overloading sql

Mods - please move it if this is in the wrong place. Our forum is under attack by bots. So much so that we're getting the max_users_connections error all the time. There are up to 2,000 'guests' online which is way beyond our normal traffic levels. Our anti spam is google recaptcha but they're break...

Re: Display a list of latest topics from selected forums

You probably already have, but just in case, With FireFox inspector it says the iframe source is src="http://burmaboard.com/lasttopic.php" Have you tried: src="../../../lasttopic.php" Or adding the S to make it: src="https://burmaboard.com/lasttopic.php" You know what ... that worked! Thanks! Troub...

Re: Simple banner rotator

The banners are jpegs, stored on another site.

My bad ... updating the link to call the js code to https solved it!

Re: Simple banner rotator

The javascript code does not display the banners on the secure version of the site, but it works on the non-secure version so I suspect the browser is blocking it.

Display a list of latest topics from selected forums

I currently use outdated code to do this (can view it on the sidebar on www.davosman.org). The https version of the site blocks this code (same used on www.burmaboard.com but blocked). Is there an extension that will allow me to syndicate the latest topics from selected forums into the sidebar and o...

Simple banner rotator

I've been using a javascript banner rotator to display 4-5 468x60 banners in random order on each page view next to the forum logo for years and it works perfectly. However the https version of the site blocks this code so I need a browser compliant phpBB extension to do the same thing. Have looked ...

Re: Securing forum with https

I think we're getting there, big thanks 3Di.

A second question, if I can.

There is a third party javascript banner rotator that is now blocked in the https version.

Any idea how I can get that to run?

Re: Securing forum with https

Thanks guys. The SSL cert came from cPanel/WHM - it was a built in service. Can someone please post the correct .htaccess rewrite as that seems to be causing all of the problems. I know the URL works, but for the n'th time it is when you try to login there is a problem. I cant login as Admin to chan...

Re: Securing forum with https

This is what I'm trying to ascertain.

But it seems to be an exercise in shifting blame here.

Can you tell me how to check please.
