Re: INstalled 3.1.1 but need data from old database. Can I use SQL?

You just need to run the install/database_update.php so it updates the database to 3.1.x Upload the 3.1.11 files Edit the config.php file so it matches the information for the location of the database Open /cache and delete everything except index.htm and .htaccess (if you can see it) You will proba...

Re: Not allowing PMs for a user

Groups are easier because if they're in the group they can't do it and if they're out of the group they can.

You can edit that persons user permissions individually though.

users and groups
user permissions
enter their account name
advanced permissions
PMs
Can send private messages NEVER

Re: Can permanently delete own posts problem

Use the permission mask to check if the permission you think is being applied to that forum for that user.

Please post a screenshot of your FTP window showing where you have the extensions and the expanded view of the folder you have uploaded.

You should have

Re: Godaddy control panel install

Also worth noting that support for 3.0 ended nearly a year ago.

Better to download 3.2.1 and install it manually. We see lots of problems with the godaddy installations.

Re: Default Groups instead of Registered users

Put them all back in the registered users group. It's the only option you have really. You can do that in bulk. users and groups Manage groups Click members next to the registered users group Then below the box at the bottom of the next page, click 'find a member' That will allow you to choose a pag...

Re: More flexible permissions for parents?

But it sounds like when you make a new forum you're unable to select a parent category for it until you have made some permissions but that shouldn't be the case. Unless the category itself has been set up incorrectly. You should be able to make a category. Set permissions for access. Make a forum, ...

Re: More flexible permissions for parents?

Have you set permissions for the category that the forum is going to be under and hence the parent that the forum will have?

Re: Default Groups instead of Registered users

Or if you wanted your standard group to have a different name you could have just renamed the registered users group in the ucp.php language file.

Taking people out of the registered users group is going to cause you a whole heap of organisational problems.

Have you set permissions for the category that the forums are actually in?

Sounds like you haven't meaning people can't see a forum that's in a category they can't see anyway.

Re: More flexible permissions for parents?

However, I don't want registered users to have standard access to every forum. Set them to No Access then for those ones. The group permissions all stack so as long as you remember that NEVER beats YES beats NO you can stack up the permissions how you like. If there's a forum you don't want the reg...

Re: Play sound on the new question?

I assume you mean you want a noise when a new topic is made. A bit like Facebook would.

The difference is that a bulletin board doesn't auto refresh the page all the time. You would need to request an extension to have the page constantly refreshing first.

Re: How to alter poll votes?

Just all seems a bit silly to me. Just sack him from the team, takes all of 20 seconds to do. If your members find out you've fiddled a poll they won't stay long.
