Re: Link in New Window

Link underlining is usually controlled by the style css.
Which style are you using?

Might be worth editing the topic title to mention underlines so you get style coders in to address that.

Re: problems creating a new forum

Please fill out the Support Request Template and post it back here to enable us to assist you better. Turn off all of those extensions first. You need to make the site before you know what extensions you'll need. Also what do the hosts say about how slow it is? And you don't need to clear the cache ...

Re: Increased spam activity for meettomy.site from compromised accounts

They would have to be monumentally dedicated sleeper accounts. One had registered in 2016. I think the others were 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Every site has hundreds of accounts that register for a look around but never post. They also all posted exactly the same spam message.

Re: Increased spam activity for meettomy.site from compromised accounts

But it's stopped 4 compromised accounts from posting already and it's a 'hands off' solution as it's a continuous rolling check. Works brilliantly. What do you do with the account after it becomes compromised, and it starts sending spam into the queue? Do you just change the password so the origina...

Re: registration fail

That kind of spam protection is dreadfully outdated and will be easily beaten if you have it working so there isn't a lot of point in trying. Go straight for Q&A antispam. How to configure Q&A Administration Control Panel (ACP) > Spambot countermeasures> Installed plugins > click the dropdow...

Without more information like the address of your board it's hard to tell.

Re: Admin Login Errors After Upgrading to PHP 7.4

Yes it only makes a new account that lets you log in and make any corrections like setting a new password.

7.4 is quite old. What happens if you go straight for something newer like 8.1 or 8.2

Re: Admin Login Errors After Upgrading to PHP 7.4

In phpMyAdmin, run the following, which will create an admin user named Admin1 with a password of admin . From that point you should be able to get into the ACP. INSERT INTO phpbb_users (user_type, group_id, username, username_clean, user_regdate, user_password, user_email, user_lang, user_style, us...

Re: Understanding user permissions

Yes.
Make a group with sig permissions on yes. Then everyone you put in that group can have a sig. If you want to stop them having one, just take them out of the group again.

Re: Understanding user permissions

NO is the default for user permissions so that none of them have a YES permission for something that you didn't intend. The permissions are independent and the net result is what is important. This can be checked with the permission masks. You can have a NO permission in multiple groups but if one g...

Re: Where to put adsense phpbb 3.3.11

The extension has pre-set 'legal' areas to put the ads. You just dump your ad code in the box and choose the area for it to display

Re: Email visible if module not found

But why are you messing with the modules in the first place? Leave them alone. They're not there as settings to turn things on and off.

How are users supposed to contact you if you remove it?

Re: Email visible if module not found

It's designed like that for users to be able to contact you. If you don't want a personal address there, make a domain specific one in your hosting control panel, like admin@yoursite.com (and set up a redirection to a personal account if you want to). You almost never need to go digging in the modul...
