Re: Restricting members from viewing certain forums

You can use the newly registered users group for that. You can set it to no access for the other forums and then they'll only be able to see the one with access for the number of posts set in user registration settings > new member post limit. However, you could also use the auto groups extension ht...

So if I IP ban to someone, it will ban their reg IP and all the post IPs?
If all of those are the same IP address or you ban multiple addresses if they have used more than one, yes.
But it won't stop them coming back because it's easy to beat.

Re: IP Ban - to which IP actually?

The one they have at that time they're visiting the board. If it matches their reg IP or any of the post IPs they won't get in, but if it doesn't they can carry on as normal.

Using at the time - so last IP used? Or last IP which used for making a post?
The one they're using at the time they come to the board.
You have 4 totally different IPs on this site for example. I could ban all 4 of them and you could then just restart your router and circumvent all my hard work.

Re: IP Ban - to which IP actually?

In that instance, IP banning will be a bit pointless because they'll just restart their router again and get another IP.

The ban only applies to the one they're using at that time if they match.

Re: Question about forum on php

With reference to Mick's comment, the first thing to do is to think....what would I do if I was coming to that site? Would you stump up $20 to get to a site you haven't even seen yet?

Re: Question about forum on php

Might make more sense to flip it around a bit.

Set up the reg page with the Q&A antispam requiring a specific code to create the account.

Once they pay, you email them the code they need to create the account. Then you don't need that message at all.

Re: Extensions not working at all

No, it's a controller for a 3rd party style. It belongs in /ext/

Re: Extensions not working at all

Nope

You've put it in to /ext/phpbb (this is where extensions written by the phpBB team go)

It just needs to be in /ext

Just as the instructions say on the right side of the screen in your screenshots.

Re: Extensions not working at all

OK post up screenshots of where they are now.

I would delete the /phpbb/ext folder just to avoid confusion in future.

Re: Extensions not working at all

You have them in the wrong place.

At the top level there is a folder called /ext
It looks like you've made a folder called /ext in the forum's /phpbb folder.
