Re: Red X on visual confirmation

Looks like the spam is still coming through, unfortunately. Seems to be at the same rate as previously, so I guess the numbers idea does not work too well, sorry.

Re: Red X on visual confirmation

You are correct! Thanks. The show at registration was not checked. It is now checked and the numbers box does appear. I will wait and see if it works and cuts down on spam. Thanks for the great help.

Re: Red X on visual confirmation

OK, I tried the procedure of setting numbers, according to the tutor. But, when I saved it, the changes did not show up. In other words, no box or fields on the registration page. I noticed that Captcha was still enabled, so I went in and disabled the Captcha, still no box or fields with my numbers ...

Re: Red X on visual confirmation

Actually, you have answered my question. I think that I will just await the new edition and, hopefully, it will fix the problem. Meanwhile, I will just delete the spam, troublesome as that is! Thanks. It occurred to me that the ones working on pbpBB deserve much credit for the fine work they do. On ...

Red X on visual confirmation

I am getting a red X instead of the captcha-image in the registration-form where visual-confirmation should be. I have read over the various tips (such as uploading new raw files, adding to php.ini, recompiling in notepad+++ - which made the VC go away entirely, alas -- etc.) without success. By the...

Re: Favicon doesn't work: why?

I have placed my favicon in the root directory, as well. As well as under the forum, main, and all image files, but no success. It DOES show up for the domain, as a whole, just not for the phpBB board! Here is a question. Should I possibly refresh or re-upgrade the forum script? I could run the data...

Re: Favicon doesn't work: why?

Same problem. Can't get favicon to show up. Tried to follow the instructions. Placed the following in overall-header file, after title-end tag, but no luck. Cleared cache, rebooted, etc. Using IE-6. <link rel="icon" href="images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <link...

Re: UTF-8 quote-mark in help_faq.php?

That did the trick, thanks! Also, a good point to know, for the future.

I did a cut and paste and bingo! I never would have found it without the nice assistance!

UTF-8 quote-mark in help_faq.php?

I wanted to make a change in help_faq.php, to list who owns the board (the last part of the page). In the name of the owner is an apostrophe (quotation mark). So, when uploaded, a blank white page appears (it works fine without the quotation-mark, however). I tried various ways to upload and even to...

Re: Getting fatal-error on attempted up_grade

When I uploaded the original database, it worked fine.
That was the problem. It was missing. Thanks for the quick response! Good to go now.

OK... but I did a search on "undefined index" to try to address my question. Should I repost somewhere else? If so, where, please?

Re: [Fixed] Undefined index message

Hi. I recently did an upgrade to 3.0.4. It completed successfully, but stated: Notice: Undefined index: LOG_DELETE_TOPIC in /home/www/mydomain/forum/language/en_us/common.php on line 870 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/www/nationalist/foru...

Re: To administer the board you must re-authenticate yourself.

When I went to the Support Template, it suggested that I make sure I had the latest update. I did, 3.0.4. However, I thought I would simply d/l the package again and re-upload, again. Guess what? It fixed the problem! I can get into ACP now. Since I had manually uploaded the files before, maybe I ha...
