The colors are taken from your style.

Word uses a ton of styles that the WYSIWYG Editor doesn't. Inside the textarea is a HTML field so it looks fine, but that's not what the Editor can parse.

When I find time (atm I have really less of it) I can/will take a look at phpBB 3.2 and how it works with the extension.
