Re: post count doesnt increase

Not quite.. The fact is, that either people read what people have put and exercise the info previously posted... OR they go use another type of forum. Its not a "PROBLEM" as such, its just a setting that most OTHER forums have enabled by default. The fact the default installed post/categor...

Re: phpBB support email spam

I think were talking cross purposes here mate. :) The spam email was sent to the email address set to this phpbb.com current board here, not the email tied to my own phpbb board. There different emails. The administrator account on "my" board has a different email address to the one the sp...

Re: phpBB support email spam

Indeed, but the one I have added here is unique, its not displayed anywhere and just used in this forum profile. ( even turned off administration contact via email too )

Subsequently, ive removed all my info apart from some basic stuff from the here forum, to avoid it happening again.

Re: phpBB support email spam

Thanks, I firstly appreciate the quick reply Brf, and also to Marshalrusty. The question is, how did they get hold of the email address? Its only been specifically set up and registered to the phpbb3 forums... :? Guess, I'll delete the email address ( as I own the domain anyway ) and create an alter...

Re: Users not in any groups.

I know that now, but its not immediatly apparent that that is supposed to be the case. ( well not to me anyway, and ive been using these forums for about 15 years ) Its seems wierd that if you, for example, PM the "RU" group, you end up PM'ing the entire board. :? ( inc those in the newly ...

Re: Users not in any groups.

Fabulous!

Thankfully, I had not missed anyone, but I still tested the query with a testuser, removing them from all groups and it works perfectly. :)

Next time im in OZ, I'll buy you a beer... :)

Users not in any groups.

Hi. I would be so grateful if someone can point me in the right direction. In trying to understand why new forum users were ending up in both the groups called "registered users" AND "newly registered users", I removed the users from registered users group, believing that they sh...

Re: Groups with newly registered users / registered users -

We see it all the time from people. The fix is just to choose fewer permissions to change at once. I'm only doing one Kevin... :( I'll stick to only using the lower single option " (inc subforums) " rather than select the top option, where you can select the entire forum. Thanks all for y...

Re: Groups with newly registered users / registered users -

If I change some of these which show "NO ROLE ASSIGNED" to "NO ACCESS", and click "APPLY ALL PERMISSION" at the bottom. It doesnt seem to be saving those settings. :? This is likely to be a server time out. Asking it to look at and update the permissions of mult...

Re: Groups with newly registered users / registered users -

Hi Kevin, Thanks for taking the time to post. Im sure others will find what you have said useful too. Can you enlighten me though with your statement "The NRU group is set to NEVER". Where are you talking about in the ACP exactly? ( read on ) The way I have understood each group ( NRU and ...

Re: Groups with newly registered users / registered users -

Hi AmigoJack, Thanks for your input. 1, The way I interperated how this works, is as if both groups are separate entities.Still doesnt quite make sense why they need to be in both. I ready what your saying, but I dont see the logic. If we have applied separate settings for the entire forum for the &...

Groups with newly registered users / registered users - Help

Hi, I would be so glad if someone can please help me. 1, I cant quite get my head round this. I have read up on the point of the "Newly registered users" group and have set it up so that this group has limited access, compared to the "registered users" group, taking advanta...

Re: Custom Profile Field > "Entry already exists or is in us

Hi all.

I dont suppose anyone has any suggestion on my post above please?

I just want to know how to create custom fields in profiles so that the entries that are put in by the user, are unique. Just like how the email or username are done.

Thanks in advance.
