Host Down?

I'm not sure if it's just me, but could you guys check if "freepowerboards.com" is down for you as well?
The support forum isn't working, my board isn't working...everything is down..
Is something wrong on my end or their end?

Re: Easy way to save all private messages?

Hm. Well, if you really want to avoid the pain of copying and pasting 90 messages, you can do this: Backup your database (only phpbb_users and phpbb_privmsgs tables are necessary) through the Backup page under the Maintenance tab of the ACP. You can then either store the data raw or process it some...

Re: Easy way to save all private messages?

Okay, another option is to export from the database. Run this SQL query in PHPMyAdmin: SELECT p.msg_id, p.author_id, u.username, p.message_time, p.message_subject, p.message_text, p.to_address, p.bcc_address FROM phpbb_privmsgs p, phpbb_users u WHERE u.user_id = p.author_id You can then export that...

Re: Easy way to save all private messages?

I just tried exporting both as CSV and as CSV (Excel), and you're right, neither looks very good in Excel. You could try exporting it as XML - it may not be as easy to manage, but it stores pretty well in that format. Give XML a try and see if it works for you. Any other way? XML turned out ugly as...

Re: Can Admin read users pm?

So is this MOD only available to people who are paying for their services? I'm still a little confused in this area. My board is hosted by "freepowerboards", the highest thing I have access to is the ACP, which doesn't include the board files, correct? I don't understand where all this ins...

Re: Can Admin read users pm?

If my board is hosted for free, can I still do this? I'm not sure how I would go about doing this because I don't have any phpbb software installed...
Sorry, I'm still a beginner in all this.

Easy way to save all private messages?

I have been past the limit for my PM inbox on by board for the past...well it's been a long time. I started increasing the rate of maximum messages every time my box was full, and now it's up to 90 messages. Is there an easy way to save all my private messages so that I can clear it up and lower the...

Re: My board is gone!!

So my board = $$ to them? Yep. Servers and bandwidth cost money. They have to make it somehow so they put ads on all the boards they host. The advantage to you is that you don't have to worry about the nitty gritty of databases and files, but the downside is you don't have a lot of control over it ...

Enough to run a business if you have enough sites running on the servers.
So my board = $$ to them?
That's nice. It's a win-win situation =).
That is if the boards are working 24/7..

Re: My board is gone!!

It means they messed something up and then fixed it. Like something was unplugged/off? It could be one of many things. but whatever it was, they fixed it. Quick Question: What do free forum hosts gain from hosting forums for free? They make money from those adverts you have on your site. How much c...
