Re: Re-use of existing attachments

Yes, I'm in. My thoughts about it: Upon wanting to delete an attachment the confirmation page should also tell how often the attachment is used (also when not used at all, and unbound to if posts or messages using it can be accessed by the owner or not). There are people out there not used to hardli...

Note: members aren't allowed, so it's not a technical issue. Other forums miss this permission, too, for no apparent reason.

Re: phpBB.com Website Feedback

Spamhaus blocks whole subnets, not single IP addresses. Most likely "your" neighbourhood is involved in something considered spam.

Re: phpBB.com Website Feedback

That short worded refusal tells all people who rarily can fix it themselves to not help in any way. There is no thought about implementing a per-user setting of being tested against blacklists or not. Accounts like Lumpy should be trustworthy. This website uses phpBB - if the problem could be solved...

Re: [3.2][3.3][BETA] Image Redirect

You connect to those sites via HTTPS and the website connection from the web server to the external source is still obscured from the end user and could be connected through HTTP. That's the very point I mentioned earlier . That's also the point of HTTPS securing the connection, not the content: in...

Re: [3.2][3.3][BETA] Image Redirect

pre-compiled binaries To everyone (not you in particular) who is concerned about security and HTTPS: downloading over HTTP yourself just to present it on your own website via HTTPS has nothing to do with security. And doing it with an executable that you didn't compile yourself is just adding a man...

Re: The privacy policy & Terms should always be available

See (65) of the GDPR . An example is an e-mail exchange: when the topics have been discussed to an end the "as soon as" kicks in. Another example is a contract that is no longer in effect, hence data associated with it shall be deleted. That's the whole idea of Article 25 : only processing data whe...

Re: Why was the GD rules topic removed?

A snapshot from ~8 years ago; since the user primedomain still exists and the post count says 25944 but searching all his posts only matches 22401 posts I assume either soft deletion of the missing 3500 reside in a hidden forum.

(assuming I keep any and all data safe
No, the data has to be deleted as soon as it isn't needed anymore without a good reason. Sooner or later you will see yourself in a situation where you want others to delete collected data about you, and then you want a law and not their goodwill alone.

Re: Addition to Privacy Policy / Terms of use

what's stopping a user to implement [img]https://domain.tld/analyse.dll?id=1234{/img] and thereby spying on any other user who's browser displays said post Surprise: this is done for decades already, yet everyone (including phpbb.com) happily includes //ajax.googleapis.com/ . there is no harm to wa...

Re: Option to shield users from loading third party ressources

Proxying and caching add potential for manipulation: requesting a resource directly from its source is by default more trustful than to get a "copy" from somewhere else. If such a feature is incorporated into the core I'll publish an extension that will modify all those files in a subtile way, sprea...

Re: Search result giving no result for "the" keyword

As written by others: it differs in configuration/backend: on this board issuing the 3 keywords Bless the Harts will give you results as expected: https://www.phpbb.com/community/search.php?keywords=Bless+the+Harts issuing the 1 phrase "Bless the Harts" also works as expected: https://www.phpbb.com/...

Re: Addition to Privacy Policy / Terms of use

There should be a phrase that reads like this "The board my request that your browser loads ressources from third party sources. This inclued, but is not likited to, fonts, images, java-scripts." Congratulations: after ~25 years people finally understood how websites work: they render embedded reso...

Re: How to learn

Honestly I know nothing about programming but have the feeling of being next Bill Gates. I'm a regular user of the website Quora to know how other people think and how to make best use of what they are saying. That's not programming, that's designing/concepting - you could also just know many softw...
