Re: How to block a URL/path wild card in htaccess?

The Apache manual is up and alive: it should be as easy as:

Code: Select all

<Directory "/usr/local/httpd/htdocs/somename/">
  Require all denied
</Directory>
But consider editing httpd.conf directly instead of having multiple .htaccess files for performance reasons.

Re: Copying single posts, not only complete threads

With 10 years of experience the times when we encountered such a need the whole topic was cloned and selected posts of the new topic were deleted again. Occured rarily, maybe twice a year.

Re: Issues with Tor.

At which point? Not being able to compose one? Not being able to add a recipient? Not being able to submit it? Is there an error message? Does it work for you? Part of the IP address is compared when checking a session, see the manual on "Session IP validation" and consider changing it to...

You can't. Unless you edit /adm/style/acp_users_profile.html directly and remove it.

Re: Unnecessary jabber address field in user management from ACP

Yes, as any address can be valuable unrelated to what is enabled or disabled. If an administrator can see a XMPP address although XMPP/Jabber is disabled on the entire board it can still be used to contact that person outside the board (i.e. thru a standalone XMPP client). And you want it to be hidd...

Re: Where are the board's icons located?

As per a PM from the author this turns out as a classic XY problem : the reason for wanting PNGs can easily be eliminated when the real intention is known. In this case it is: no external resources. Which makes it more than easy: configure your phpBB installation to not use CDN - then it won't load ...

Re: Where are the board's icons located?

They're displayed thru CSS definitions for a font. For the question mark circle next to the FAQ link it'd be https://fontawesome.com/icons/question-circle?style=solid . The font uses private Unicode codepoints, so arbitrary "characters" in that font use arbitrary positions. In the CSS you ...

Re: Push Notifications

This would let you have instant updates for new posts, edits, deletions, new PMs 6.5 years later I'm even more unsure if vipaka 's text was meant like that, or if "instant updates" only meant notifications for events of that, but without automatically extending/modifying the page you're c...

Unrelated to your issues: can you explain what PMS Jobs are? Because the vast majority of people speaking English know only one PMS (gamers may know the PMS Clan).

Re: Flash: So long and thanks for all the lulz

I knew Flash (it's a name, hence uppercase) even before Adobe aquired it, when its filename extension SWF was accurate ( Shockwave Flash). I experimented with scripted text animations a bit and the results pleased me. The one I remember most is Joe Cartoon 's Frog in a Blender . It was in an era whe...

For me this only shifts problems, as then the authority's trust must be questioned and its existence is a permanent requirement. In the past SSL root certi...
