Re: Private Messages

Senky's Encrypted PMs extension Welcome to the internet - it works thru links. Granted, I know your username since I've joined this board, but is this necessary? Every reader has to start his own search? Personally I believe that that the term "Private Message" is, within the scope of social media ...

Re: Automatic logout problem in mobile devices

with my phone for every single click It's not your phone, it's an internet browser. Find out which one, then try it with a different one, or check settings if features/extensions are on which you don't know. In my logs I sometimes see people trying to register from a mobile device where the interne...

On a point of English grammar they are mice not mouses
I'm not talking about rodents - see a dictionary: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/mouses#Noun

Re: Open links in new tab

it's a real PITA every time I click a link it opens in the same tab and I then have to use the back button Alternatively start using your keyboard: for most internet browser holding down CTRL while clicking forces a new tab (while SHIFT forces a new window). Likewise ALT+LEFT goes back to the previ...

Re: Changing Username

it is possible to allow the users to change their username AND if doing so will propagate the new username to all of the historic posts? Yes and yes, because user accounts (just like posts, topics and PMs) live thru numbers, not their name. The board also ensures that every username is unique. Just...

Execute this SQL query (i.e. thru phpMyAdmin) and report back and results: SELECT u.user_id , u.username , u.user_lastpost_time , from_unixtime( u.user_lastpost_time ) AS utc_user , p.post_time , from_unixtime( p.post_time ) AS utc_post , p.post_id FROM phpbb_users u INNER JOIN phpbb_posts p ON p.po...

Re: this not working fancybox

=#999;]hi does not correspond to ={COLOR2}; ]{TEXT} since at least a space is missing. Looking at how the QUOTE-BBCode works I don't get why you separate parameters with semicolon at all, let alone having one plus space at the end. And redefining a border color that one is already able to provide t...

Re: [question] How to disable IPv6 in phpBB?

While that's not the best idea (why not limiting new members to not use URIs and the URL BBCode) I can tell you it's not possible with a default installation: banning IP addresses only works for v4 ones.

Re: Firefox Extensions: Privacy and Security

Well, the title is abut extensions and privacy & security, but the content also includes guides and mostly targets to fight ads. Using uMatrix will help you understand what each website wants to load, and you'll start to be happy that a couple of those will break unless you allow certain resources. ...

Re: Microsoft/Hotmail/Outlook mail server blacklisting

I know this for many years already and have modified the board to display a warning whenever a Microsoft related domain is used (plus others I made negative experiences with) in the e-mail address, urging the users to use a different provider. The only blacklist provider having been cooperative (eas...

Given everything that has been mentioned already I can think of animations (smileys, signatures, avatars). Initially you gave no details about your installation - a different style can already come with animations. If you'd have filled out th e SRT then you might even have the answer yourself alread...

Also it exists since 3.0 and its primary intention is to avoid "speed posting", so new members achieve a certain post count in a short time. Which also coincidents with your t...

Export its database (MySQL/MariaDB) into an SQL file. Export the SQLite phpBB database into an SQL file. Merge both SQL files: igno...
