Re: How to ban an entire country or, at least, a host name?

Because then you stop it coming to the site as a whole and using up your bandwidth. The server level will be more efficient at stopping it than just the board level.
OK, many thanks. I'm gonna check what my server can do!

Re: How to ban an entire country or, at least, a host name?

I would do that at the server level in your hosting control panel. Your hosts should be able to direct you with that. OK, but why do it at server level if phpBB offers the facility? Or doesn't it? What they're not so good at is things that need some logic such as two part questions or where you ask...

Re: How to ban an entire country or, at least, a host name?

Hello KevC and many thanks for your fast reply! You could try an IP range ban at the server level but IPs are not necessarily country specific. I know, but I've noticed that phpBB offers the option to ban a host name. Since the spammer is always using the same host, how do I do this? Do I simply typ...

How to ban an entire country or, at least, a host name?

Hello, I have a persistent spammer from Viet-Nam on my forum. I'd like to know whether it's possible to ban an entire country (Viet-Nam in this case) as, in any case, mine is a franco-colombian forum and posters from Viet-Nam are 99.99% sure to be spammers. If so, how please? As an alternative, is i...

Scripting Issue - Core Dumping

Hello, I just received this email from my host provider (Web Hosting Hub): Hello Henry, System administration has determined that you have a script in your account that is "core dumping." The core dumps were removed but were located in your account at the following location: ////darloup.com/forum Co...

Re: Remove "Re:" from replies

I checked you board and it seems that the whole post subject field is missing there, not only the "re: " No, it works fine for me. I just installed an extension to remove the Re: for future posts and that works fine. Also, checking the past posts (like in this thread: http://www.darloup.com/forum/v...

Re: Remove "Re:" from replies

Well, I have over 7000 messages on my board but, from the little I have checked so far, it seems to have been removed. My board is French/Spanish and I assumed the the "Re:" was also used in these two languages. I was just a little bit worried about the super fast timing of the request on those 7000...

Re: Remove "Re:" from replies

Hello, As per previous instructions, I ran this query Update phpbb_posts set post_subject = replace (post_subject, 'Re: ', '') where post_subject like 'Re:%' to remove the Re: from previous messages. I didn't get any error messages, but by query ran in 0.012 second. Did it run properly? Regards, Henry

Re: How not being able to edit your message if someone already replied to it

Hello, I'm bumping this thread because I'm still desperately looking for an extension which would prohibit the edition of any message if a reply (or replies) had been posted. The default setting would be that a user could edit all their last messages if they wished to, but this feature would be disa...

Re: [RC] mChat

Thanks Tarantino!

I would have preferred to enter 2 weeks than 1209600 seconds!

Which do you recommend? 1209600 seconds in the "Message prune task interval" or 2 weeks in the "Messages to retain when pruning"?

Re: [RC] mChat

Hello, I can't find the setting in the ACP to configure how long the messages will be kept in the archive. Is this to do with the pruning setting? Basically, I'd like the archive to keep two weeks worth of messages. How do I do this? Do I activate the pruning setting and set it to 1209600 seconds?! ...

Re: [RC] mChat

Hola, Would it be possible to customize in the ACP the size of the font displayed? It's a wee bit too large for me. This could be added but there won't be any features until 2.0.0 is released in the CDB, otherwise there will never be a release. Maybe someone wants to write an addon extension for tha...

Re: [RC] mChat

As usual, many thanks for a wonderful release! A tiny request ! Would it be possible to customize in the ACP the size of the font displayed? It's a wee bit too large for me. Interestingly enough, the font size used to notify the messages is larger than the one used to display "No one is chatting" at...

Re: Cannot display properly my website and my facebook page links

Hello "Lumpy Burgertushie", if you fill in the youtube blank it acts the same way. no link in the memberlist. I know, in fact it does that for all phpBB predefined fields: Google+, Twitter, WLM, etc... NONE of them appear as links in membership.php I already reported this in the tracker of Area 51. ...
