Re: Add footer with grid

@Gumboots Yes, I use em and even rem on the main website css. But in some instances I did the em, looked at the website on the phone and there were some things that didn't side up with the desktop display; not often but it has happened. This time around I just wanted to do the links quickly and I go...

Re: Add footer with grid

The following image shows the grid working with template and css on a test forum. links-grid-display.png Used a simple grid system. The only squirrely part was matching grid.css with addfooter.css. I'm thinking I could probably dispense with the addfooter.css (instead style it in the grid.css) but I...

Re: Add footer with grid

Thanks to Robert and HFK :)

Both look fairly good as possibilities. The thing about the grid question was that I could fine tune the responsive aspect with it and other css details. Maybe the extension allows for that.

Will report on the outcome.

Add footer with grid

I've been thinking of adding a footer to the forum for an array of links. The simplest way I can think of doing this is to add an html such as I have done for some notices and such to the index-body. <!-- INCLUDE add_text.html --> Not sure yet whether I want to place it on all pages. The footer requ...

Re: Guest forum safeguards

KevC, thank you for the prompt response. I'm trying an experiment where the guest forum would be like a clearinghouse - via moderation queue - to discern genuine comments from spamming, etc. If it doesn't work out, then a quick delete in the ACP and the experiment is over. :) I would like registered...

Guest forum safeguards

Can a guest forum be made where that is the only forum guests can post in without registering?

I'm thinking that it's just a matter of setting permissions, etc., but from the back end of it I'm wondering if that's enough to restrict unwanted migrations to the rest of the board.

Thanks

Re: Last Two Posters Redux

but my gut instinct would be that it probably wouldn't (a lot has changed in the code in the last 10 years!) Yes, that's what I was thinking. I will leave it with this question: Is there anything in the system as it stands now that would facilitate some kind of 'hover' that would pop up sort of lik...

Re: Last Two Posters Redux

and those two titles could be different. I remember when working on it back then that the name of a poster on another topic showed up in a different topic. That was definitely a glitch but somehow it worked out correctly and I used it for a time. Yes, you have a point with that number of replies. I...

Last Two Posters Redux

The reason it's called, Redux, is because this relates to a posting on these boards 10 years ago. Having said that, then let me start right away by asking if this is possible nowadays considering the versions of phpBB that have come and gone since then. At the time of this question, DavidIQ was gene...

Re: My posts don't show, but the posts of others do. Huh?

Sometimes it's the simplest solution. I contacted tech support at the hosting company. I had already put in a support ticket so I wanted to find out where that was on the queue, etc. I explained to the TS person what had happened with all of this. He said he had to get into the forum to see what was...

Re: My posts don't show, but the posts of others do. Huh?

What other files would the host be using to upgrade to 3.3 if not the files for upgrading to 3.3?

And I doubt they would give notice of updates on various software to their many, many, customers if it didn't work.

Still, I will notify them of the problem and see what their take is.

Re: My posts don't show, but the posts of others do. Huh?

janus Like many hosts, they offer different kinds of software such as phpBB and other boards, etc.. When you go on to the cPanel you'll see notices now and then of upgrades to whichever software. As noted, everything went fine, the forum is operating. Except, of course, for the problem noted here. :...
