Re: Something (all) Community's should

How can something like this stop hatred on forums? Face it, you see stuff like that no matter what site you visit on. And not only that, but if you ran a huge community, and you went around asking for identification, that would only mean more work for you as a forum owner or even a staff member. I f...

Re: A way to block spammers.

That does sound like an idea. I think as long as it only blocks spammers rather than innocent users, that shouldn't be a problem I wouldn't think. Of course, I understand it's not down to any of us to decide, but that sounds pretty good though.

More than one email for more than one purpose?

Do you have only one email for everything (forums, social networking sites, etc.) or do you have more than one email for everything (one email for social network, personal things, and maybe a second email for forums??) It just now occured to me that with all the hacking attempts going on and what-no...

Re: Facebook is using PunBB?

It never has mattered to me what software any forum runs. Doesn't matter if it's a support forum or general chat or any genera. What matters is the community involvement and how members and staff alike are getting along with one another. To me, what kind of software any forum uses is not an issue. ...

Re: The hardest question of all... how do you get new users?

99 out of 100 forums go no where?? Are you kidding me? I've seen plenty of successful forums in my time and the administrators of those boards don't sit on their rear ends doing nothing, thank you very much. Look at Forum Promotion, look at The Admin Central (or whatever that one site's called...) T...

Re: Keep me interested in phpbb

I like PHPBB because it seems to be more secure than any of the other forum softwares more than anything. Loads of anti-spam mods, loads of other awesome security features like the Re-Captcha that's becoming popular on a lot of boards, and it's just amazing. I've used PHPBB for quite some time and I...

First forum you ever joined:

What was the first forum you ever joined? The first one I ever joined was Backstreet.net's backboard in 2007. At the time, it was simply a message board, not like as you or I know message boards today. It was a one where you could come on as a guest, start a conversation with a topic (sort of like a...

I love Facebook! If that site ever were to close, I don't think I would want to go to anything else.

Re: [DEV] Proxy Revealer Olympus 0.3.3

Sorry to be a pest jasmineaura, but is there any news on the mod going into the BETA stages yet? I'm wondering this as well. There have been quite a few spamming/hacking attempts lately and I want my forum as well protected as possible. We need some kind of mod to stop people from coming in on prox...

Look at PHPBB"s stats! (this support forum, I mean) I would say that is a lot of posts!

Re: Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.6 and Above [*Read First Po

On my forum I have it to where users are moderated on x amount of posts before they can post on their own. While it's annoying, and I hate having to do it or having my staff do it, I also feel it's necessary, especially with all the spam/hacking attempts that are currently about.

Re: The hardest question of all... how do you get new users?

I would say content on the site and constant promotion are what make a board successful. I have also recently started submitting to free search engines as well, so that also helps!
