ok waiting off the response from my hosting. funny thing is, just for fun i went into my forum control panel and refreshed all the template files and styles. Then went back into the forum and tried attaching some thing... worked again... very very weird.. but will check again in a few hours and see ...

thank you. I have sent them a new email with your suggestion. It was very weird, i came home and the site attachments worked for 30 minutes. then clicked on a new attachment and BANG, cannot access to files... bla bla bla. very weird. Can i ask, would it be a good idea to change my hosting account f...

i just tried to update my php with the newest version. put in the install directory and went through the whole update process no problem, until the option comes to download the install files. clicked it at the end of the process and this is what i got Information Unable to open file ./../store/updat...

ok got back an email from my hosting company


Your domain is hosted on a Windows server, therefore it isn't possible to set file permissions as 777 - I can however, confirm that all folders on your hosting package are read/writable.


so what can I do now ?

tried again putting the 777 into the directory.

500 'SITE CHMOD 777 .htaccess': command not understood

i had a look in my ftp program and the folder has nothing in the box for attributes. I added 777 and clicked to apply this to all folders within files. did it and then checked again, still nothing in the attributes box ?? weird. i can post treads with text no problem, but no way to post an attachmen...

ok i checked the folder and file structure online. thankfully it is all there, all php files, attachments, every thing apparently. the last active date for the forum was Tue 31 Jan 2012 00:38 so last night. So the problem may now lie with the phpbb3 forum software ? here is the current ( not working...

i spoke to soon. could not find the right code. when i have the page open and right click, i can see the php code where i want to change. is there a way to user my browser to tell me what file its reading the data from. here is the code i am interested in changing. any help would be great. thank you...
