Re: InvisionFree to phpBB 3

Hmm, based on various users' experiences, it seems like there might be a higher success rate in data transfer by first converting IPB 1.3 to phpBB 2, and then converting that to phpBB 3. Whatever the case, I believe that I first need to host an IPB 1.3 board to transfer my IF raw dump data onto so t...

Re: [CONVERT] Crawler Converters (Forumer, ZetaBoards, etc.)

Any recent ZetaBoards users have any success with this converter? Anything important that doesn't get converted?

Re: InvisionFree to phpBB 3

The InvisionFree team has now finished the restoration and raw dump. The restoration was provided 7 days after payment, and the raw dump was finished in less than one business day. I'm very surprised and pleased with the speed that they worked at. Now it's time for me to figure out where to head wit...

Re: InvisionFree to phpBB 3

Does a database backup consist of files that are given to me and can be stored locally, such that I can use them in conversions as many times as I want (including in re-attempts in case a conversion to a specific software fails)? Or is it only handled by the host during conversion? A database backu...

LadyAnna wrote:You should get the database backup in the form of a file (db_name.sql for instance). You should then be able to use that as many times as needed to get it right to your new host. You'll want to import it to a database already set with your new host.
Cool, thanks.

Re: InvisionFree to phpBB 3

Hi Dicky, thanks for the link; I'll check it out. Just glancing over the early posts in the thread, it seems like there were initially some issues with the converter, but I'll research into it further.

InvisionFree to phpBB 3

Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to convert an InvisionFree board (which I believe runs on Invision Power Board v1.3 Final) to the latest stable version of phpBB 3, or at least to one of the more recent versions. I did a search and it seems like a few people attempted a similar conversion, but som...

Re: IE6 Countdown started!

Interesting, just after I optimized my site for IE6. Well, good riddance. It's time Microsoft stops IE altogether, not just the older versions, because IE really is a piece of junk for the most part.

Re: phpBB.com Website Feedback

phpBB.com is very well-designed and organised compared to the sites of its main competitors. No complaints here yet, but I'll let you guys know if I spot a major bug.

Re: Phpbb or Vbulletin

phpBB has most of the important 'forum' features that vBulletin has, but without the ridiculous price tag. If you want a proper blog, go get a dedicated blog system, not something based around forums.
