Email queue / Cron

Hi, Where do I find documentation about how phpBB manages email notifications? All the settings in the board are correct and emails get send. However, the timing is weird. I cannot see a pattern of when the emails are sent out. Sometimes it takes a few minutes, sometimes 30 minutes. Apparently, emai...

Re: Disable Short URL in Forum Post

Thanks. Did nobody else run into this problem? For me it is a major problem because the shortened URL is applied to the print view as well. If somebody prints a thread into a PDF, the PDF writer does not use the underlying link, but the displayed link. In my case no links (except the ones that were ...

Re: Disable Short URL in Forum Post

I purged the cache without the desired effect. Now that I checked the database I think I know the problem. The link gets adjusted before it gets written to the database, ie. the shortened version is stored in the database. Hence, this change will only apply to new posts, but not already existing one...

Re: Disable Short URL in Forum Post

Hi,

I made the change to includes/functions_content.php as suggested by Phil. However, the posts still have truncated URLs. Do I have to clear some kind of cache?

Thanks, J.

Re: 'Notify me upon replies by default' set to YES by defaul

No. Once again, the topics_watch table stores topic subscription information. Why is this hard to believe? You need to track each topic that a user has subscribed to, which requires storing both a user ID and a topic ID. Look at the definition of topics_watch. I did look at the table. My board has ...

Re: 'Notify me upon replies by default' set to YES by defaul

You can insert rows for each user and topic into the topics_watch table, but that might be a bad idea. Unless your users really want that, it would almost be like spamming them if they didn't want to subscribe. I do not intend to subscribe everyone to every topic. I just want all the people (initia...

Re: 'Notify me upon replies by default' set to YES by defaul

Thanks, I made those two changes. How do I apply the notification change backwards for all existing posts. Almost all of my users missed this configuration and I have hundreds of posts where the notification is not enabled. Can I run an update in the database to have all posts set to "notify the pos...

Re: [TOOL] Import Users

Strange... Password field is still in the template. Anyway, I will try it out again tomorrow. Does the import make use of the same functions to look up users as the member directory? I assumed it would take the value directly from the import file (and not get it from the database). If it comes from ...

Re: [TOOL] Import Users

Okay, clearing the cache worked. Apparently, I cleared the wrong cache before. I tried it on the template files. Now I realized there is a button right on the first page of the ACP to clear the cache and it worked. However, the password is not showing in the email. I tried all options, including lea...

Re: [TOOL] Import Users

I solved my problem with the memberlist. Basically, I just hacked a few files to make use of the field user_lastvisit in the users table. I am now only showing users in the memberlist who have at least logged in one time (if they haven't, the user_lastvisit field will be 0). However, I now have two ...

Re: [TOOL] Import Users

Hi Dicky, Thanks for the quick reply. I had hoped I can use the groups and permission to realize something like that. Couldn't I create a group that I import the users into, such as unconfirmed, and then set permissions so that members in this group can view forums until they agree to the terms? I a...

Manual account creation with confirmation upon login

Hi, Can the standard installation be configured to: - limit user creation to administrators (with email send to new users) - users who first login have to agree to the terms of use - after the terms of use, new users are asked to fill in the profile instead of going to the board index - only users w...

Re: [TOOL] Import Users

HI, I have successfully installed this tool and manage to import users. Could you please advice how to configure this tool or the board so that the imported users have to agree to the "terms of use" upon first connecting to the board? Until they have agreed, their profile should not be visible in th...
