Re: Micropayments For Threads?

If you are convinced it is a good idea, then you should go ahead and implement it. After a year or so, come back and tell us how it worked out for you.

Re: Micropayments For Threads?

Personally, I think the idea is going to fly about as well as a lead zeppelin. But if you think it is going to be a big success, then I say, "go for it" because you won't know for sure until you try it.

Re: Cool or not, go to other boards and

No problem Lumpy, I sometimes get off topic as well, I imagine we all do it from time to time. I also realize we have different opinions about a lot of things, but I think at heart we both have the best of intentions when trying to help others. In the final analysis, that's really what counts the mo...

Re: Cool or not, go to other boards and

Lumpy, you have been here for a long time and I am a relatively new member here. I am sure you have a lot of knowledge about this stuff, you certainly have a lot of posts under your belt, and you no doubt have many followers here. I, on the other hand, would be considered a "new kid" on the block. B...

Re: Cool or not, go to other boards and

How you can say that passing out business cards is the same as going to another person’s forum and trying to get free advertising is beyond me. If you want an analogy like that, then it would be like if I owned a lawnmower repair business and I went to other lawnmower repair shops and left my busine...

Re: Cool or not, go to other boards and

I am sure glad that most people are not of the same opinion. ;) robert Why would that make you glad? If most people were of the same opinion as myself there would not be people coming to your site to try and recruit members. They would not be going to web sites trying to get free advertising. To my...

Re: Cool or not, go to other boards and

In my opinion, even if you have permission to have a link to your site listed in your signature, it is still a rather "tacky" thing to do. If the site admin doesn't mind, then I guess technically it is OK to do it, but on a personal level I wouldn't consider it to be "good manners" to do it.

Re: bbcode editor for offline writing of posts

When I want to write a real long response to a post, I will write it in Microsoft Word. Once I am satisfied with how it sounds, I will do a "copy and paste" and post it in the forum. I realize some of the formatting may not be exactly what I had wanted, but I am more interested in spelling and gramm...

Re: phpBB T-Shirts

I am sure you are right, it just seems strange to me that I am allowed to tell someone I have a phpBB forum but I can’t have the same words printed on a T-Shirt without setting the stage for a lawsuit. It is of little consequence anyway since I am not planning a T-Shirt business venture anytime soon...

Re: phpBB T-Shirts

Simply put, we must enforce our trademark and have done so in the past. Now, that isn't because I don't want you walking around wearing a phpBB t-shirt. In fact, nothing would make me happier :) Your local print shop will almost certainly ask you to verify that you own rights to everything that is ...

It would be illegal for someone to have on a T-Shirt "I have a phpBB forum" or something similar to that?

Re: phpBB T-Shirts

Locally, there is a place where you can have anything you want put on a T-Shirt, or any kind of shirt for that matter. You can buy the shirt anyplace you want (alternatively, and no doubt preferably, you can buy the shirt from them) and they will make the logo and put it on the shirt. I don’t know w...

Re: how to make seo friendly urls

I guess if you firmly believe SEO is really important then you should do whatever it takes in order to make your site as SEO friendly as possible because in the final analysis it is your site to do with as you see fit. You may have noticed that not everyone here agrees with you, but that should be o...

Re: PHPBB3

Coming to this site and asking if phpBB3 is dying is like going to a Honda dealer and asking if Honda vehicles are any good and are they going away.

Re: phpBB modification

I don't understand how the answer could be the same since they are different questions, but whatever.... I am not certain of this, but I think SMF uses a "hooks system" of sorts to make modifications easier. It is my understanding a "hooks system" will be part of the newer version of phpBB when it c...
