Re: Finding file modifications I've made

Thanks to both of you for your replies. winmerge helped a lot. Once I'd got the settings sorted out it found about 20 files with differences and 5 or 6 were the ones I'd manually made changes in. The others we're changed by installed MODs. Didn't notice the show merged differences option when I upda...

Re: Tell me I didn't hose my board - please.

You have sort of edited the new config.php but you've left the instructions that are there for you and should be removed as you replace the info. Because those instructions are still there phpbb can't understand it. Things in red shouldn't be there: <?php // phpBB 3.0.x auto-generated configuration ...

Finding file modifications I've made

Hi, When I installed one of my boards a few years ago, I found a number of changes I could make to "improve" my board such as a message being added to the logs whenever captcha is activated. These changes involved editing some of the files. As I made these changes, I made a note of everything I'd ch...

Splitting database

Hi, I'm looking at the possibility of spreading my board over multiple databases. I have seen some topics about this but I don't really understand them well enough for them to help. My web host allows databases to be no more than 500MB but I can create a few databases on my account so what I'm think...

Re: Editing password requirements

Any ideas if it's possible to change the password requirements for PASS_TYPE_ALPHA to make it check for both upper and lowercase characters and numbers in passwords?

Re: Password requirements and editing files in ACP

Any ideas? As the changes are being reflected in the FTP files, does that mean that changes I make are safe even if I purge the cache?

Also does anyone have any ideas about the password issue?

Re: Password requirements and editing files in ACP

Is it usual for these changes to show in the actual files on the FTP server? Will those changes be deleted again from the FTP files when I purge the cache?

I've had a look and the changes are definitely showing if I open one of the changed files from the FTP server.

Editing password requirements

Hi, Is it possible to get PASS_TYPE_ALPHA to enforce mixed case characters and numbers like it says it should in the description? Although the description says that passwords must contain both upper and lowercase letters and numbers, it accepts any combination of letters and numbers. PASS_TYPE_SYMBO...

Re: Need helps with catergories

You shouldn't be editing via the ACP, that is only a temporary measure because all your edits will be lost if and when you do a refresh or clear the cache. I have done editing in the past through the ACP because I didn't know that it was only supposed to be a temporary thing. But I have just checke...

Re: Need helps with catergories

Hi outfire12, You need to create a category first and then create the forums inside that category like you have done with the Geneal Stuff section. So in the Create Forum box, type Servers, click Create new forum and change the type to Category and set Parent to No Parent (that means it's on the fro...

Re: Error with first install.

Did you replace all the files with new ones from the install package and did you completely clear the database before reinstalling? If you didn't clear the database back to nothing before you reinstalled, old settings that were stored before might still be there and if they were wrong, you might sti...

Re: Error with first install.

Are you able to log in enough to see or make any changes to your boards settings in the ACP (admin panel)?

Re: Error with first install.

Hi,
You're right /forum shouldn't be there twice.

While you're working out what's causing the problem, you might be able to get in if you manually edit the address yourself.

Try http://roanokevalleyoutdoors.com/forum/ ... mode=login to log yourself in.

Re: Topic table crashed...now repaired...some threads missin

If a backup contains a database that is ready to crash though, won't it crash anyway even if you keep restoring the backup?

Without MODs etc installed, do the databases generally successfully look after themselves.
