Re: Problem with changing cookie settings in Brave browser

Does the Brave browser have an Inspect mode (right click) that might help debug why the browser isn't displaying things correctly?

Has this been checked to see if the php-sodium module is installed and enabled?

Re: Admin Login Errors After Upgrading to PHP 7.4

Take a look at https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2571596 and make sure you have php-sodium installed and enabled. Since you are using phpBB 3.3.11 why not make sure you are using one of the PHP: Supported Versions ? Many here have reported no issues running on PHP 8.2, myself included....

Re: Set Newly Registered Users Must Use Anti Spam For First 5 Posts

I detest spammers and want to stop them in their tracks. That said, personally if I joined a board that required my first 5 posts to be approved that would be a major irritant and red-flag about the site and why I would want to join. If on top of that I had to deal with a CAPTCHA for each of those p...

Re: Php version (need advice please)

The host company has just emailed to say that ‘PHP 5.4 and 5.5 won't be supported from Monday 1st April 2024 - please upgrade’ Wow! According to PHP: Unsupported Branches those branches have been end-of-life (EOL) for many years and should have long ago been removed from hosting sites. In the ACP o...

Re: size of a forum?

Thank you both. I am still trying to figure out how I can see the bots arrive on the site. The list of spiders/crawlers seems to only have information that I enter. Take a look at "Who is online" and click the "Display guests" link. If you have the proper administration privileg...

Re: Increased spam activity for meettomy.site from compromised accounts

Furthermore, serious users always have an up-to-date email address. I wish that were true. Despite posting repeated reminders on boards that I'm running we regularly find email notifications being bounced because members do not keep their email addresses updated and current. For far too many once t...

Re: PDF as attachment?

KevC's post makes it clear that it has always been possible to attached PDF documents to a post. PDFs are already included in the Documents attachment group, which is disabled by default. Can you clarify the question? Are you want the post to display the attached PDF contents similar to how attached...

Re: Front Page Not Loading + Extensions not showing

A data point to offer. I have sites running on Bluehost shared hosting and it is my belief that they use nginx as some sort of front-end load-balancing/caching/reverse-proxy at the server configuration level that is NOT configurable by the phpBB board admin. From the phpBB board admin perspective th...

Re: Increased spam activity for meettomy.site from compromised accounts

Why is it impossible to put accounts in to another group? If you could run a query (or even have a regular cron) that puts any account that hasn't logged in for, say, 2 years, in to the NRU or a group of your choosing with a mod queue on it, why not? People who leave forums for that amount of time ...

For anyone who has examined server log files is there anything in the User-Agent that might identifier these posters? Any idea of they are automated posts or human spammers doing the posting?

Re: How to Change Board Logo

What is frustrating me is that I took the original SVG file, and although pixel sizes are somewhat moot in SVG files, I made a native SVG image in InkSkape with the exact same specifications. When I uploaded it, the image pushes to the right and down. Have you tried using your browser's DevTools to...

Re: 3.2.8 upgrade to 3.3.11 on a new server

You say no need to install 3.3 on the new server first but that means that no version of phpbb is installed on the new server at all. Maybe poor choice of wording on my part. Step 11 in the Upgrading from 3.2 to 3.3 instructions says Upload the contents of the phpBB3 directory from your computer to...

Re: 3.2.8 upgrade to 3.3.11 on a new server

I have read both articles, still unsure what to do since both articles are for a different scenarios. Do I copy my 3.2.8 board to the new server even though the new server has newer php version 8 that 3.2.8 won't work on and then follow the instructions to upgrade to 3.3? OR Do I install 3.3 on the...
