Re: UCP "Usergroups" Tab Frustration

Effing heist, Steve! You're awesome! xD I've been sidetracked with design stuff since I posted this thread -- but I haven't forgotten my qualms about this. I didn't actually change that file I originally quoted from (like I said, I got distracted with design elements of the website); and now I'm gla...

Re: How do I turn on

No problem. Like I said, I did this just the other day for one of my usergroups -- which is why the topic stuck out to me when I read it. :D

Re: UCP "Usergroups" Tab Frustration

Well, for the board in question, it matters to me because of the fact that I've got well over twenty usergroups, and they're pretty evenly divided up under "closed," "request," and "open" (and, of course, "special"). Which means the total list looks really jum...

Re: SEF/SEO URLs

@dandv I certainly appreciate the benefits, and the whole debate over which is better. My comparison of Coke and Pepsi to "unclean" and "clean" URLs wasn't about objective reasons. My point was that, in the end, I think most of it comes down to preference. I think "clean&quo...

Re: How do I turn on

That's my best guess. >.< But, it kind of makes sense, if so. Like I said before, it is pretty self-evident that global moderators are going to be moderators in every forum. While admins aren't necessarily going to be moderators as well, most regular users will probably assume they've got super-powe...

Re: Inquiry about phpBB

phpBB is open source -- which means you don't have to purchase it, just download it. Secondly, as Robert mentioned above, the platform isn't designed to give each member their own forum. However, there are ways to manipulate the system to do something like what you want it to -- but that might not b...

Re: How do I turn on

Well, I've never actually tried it for the Admins or the Global moderators groups, but I actually just did this for my forums the other day with another group. First, go to the ACP, and under the "General" tab, find "Board features" on the sidebar. Down at the bottom, you need to...

Re: Inactivating PHPBB account

I pretty much agree with everything that Pony99CA had to say on this subject. I'd like to further add (directed at the OP): I think your suggestion could potentially do more harm than good. I'm the type of webmaster who tries to idiot proof everything, and the sad truth is there are a lot of people ...

Re: How do I turn on

I think it's relatively self-evident that global moderators have global authority on the board... and I'm not sure why you would want the information to be repeated/reiterated on every forum on your index, but here's how you do it: Go into the Admin Control Panel. Select the "Permissions" ...

UCP "Usergroups" Tab Frustration

So... Yeah. I don't like the way groups are organized on the "Usergroups" tab in the UCP. From what I can tell, it decides to show them in the following order: Open groups Special/pre-defined groups Hidden groups Closed groups Request groups (All of the groups that are "freely open&qu...

Re: SEF/SEO URLs

>.< I only fully read the first and last page of this thread -- but I still got the general idea of the debate being had. Personally... I don't really like "pretty" URLs for my board. Why? Because they make the URL longer . However, as far as whether or not they are more beneficial or some...

Forum/Blog Integration...?

Okay, so here's what I would like to do on my website: Have a forum and a blog, each on separate subdomains. Like this: http://forum.domain.com/ http://blog.domain.com/ I know how to make that happen already, because I've done it before. I could install phpBB to the forums subdomain, and WordPress (...
